It depends on the lodge. The Book Seekers of Secrets details a few of the different lodges...
*If you're at the training lodge in the Mwangi, I bet its run a lot like boot camp.
*If you're on the lodge that is a boat, you're expected to work like any other sailor.
*I think Sheila's is described as having a hotel/homely feel in older texts (I havn't read the current AP yet)
