Society Archetype - Lore Warden

Question on this Archetype. Why does this class have a class feature/feat that requires a skill roll using a non-class skill?
Acrobatics is not a class skill for the Lore Warden so why design the 11th level class feature with an acrobatics skill roll?

Might have been an oversight of some sort. Maybe they should add that the Lore Warden gets Acrobatics as a class skill. Otherwise, you'd need a trait that gives it as a class skill or some multi-classing.

Note: This is a rules question, so the PFS forums are the wrong board.

And there are plenty of ways to make Acrobatics a class skill.

Or maybe they figure that extra +3 is either not worth adding yet another skill to the list, or too powerful on the ability. YMMV.

Dark Archive

Just because it's out of class doesn't mean it doesn't deserve your points anyway.

Sovereign Court

Given what the ability does that's probably for the best. Plus you have access to traits/feats/etc that you can use to be better at it on top of magic items that give a bonus.

Surely there is a +5 to acrobatics item floating about someplace.

Rice Runner might be a useful trait, if PFS legal.

And, for us antiques, Boots of Elvenkind in PFS give a +5 to Acrobatics. There is another set of boots which gives a different benefit and a more limited +5 to Acrobatics, IIRC, but they cost more, and I don't recall their name at the moment.

The lore warden is a fantastic archetype. I just wouldn't worry about using that particular ability. If you happened to multiclass into monk and have full ranks in Acrobatics, maybe.

Sovereign Court

It's not the only archetype that does such a thing.

Archaeologist Bards gets +1/2 level to disable device checks but it's not a class skill for them.

This is a PFS question as the Archetype class is from the Society Field Guide no any core rules.

The Society Field Guide only ties to the in character version of the Pathfinder Society. Out of character it's like any other sourcebook; questions about its rules go in the rules forum instead of the Organized Play forum.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

its still worth the investment if for no other reason then stacking CE and fighting defensively to make up for a low ac. then add a +2 to attack and damage at 12 level as a swift action with a high rate of success.
