More precisely, Armor Mastery and the Skill at Arms revelations:
Has there been any clarification/errata/FAQ regarding if Armor Mastery pertains to Heavy Armor? It seems odd that wearing medium armor allows no movement penalty, yet throw on heavy armor and your movement drops significantly. It seems logical that if Skill at Arms gives you Heavy Armor Prof, that AM would translate to cover it, at least somewhat.

It doesn't and is intended to incentivize wearing medium armor, since wearing either heavy armor or light armor is generally optimal.
Just save for a set of Mithiril Fullplate and the problem is solved.

It's not really illogical. Armor Mastery makes you better at wearing armor. It does this by increasing your maximum dexterity bonus and raising the weight of the armor you can "move freely" in from light to medium.
But no, the two don't interact. Armor Mastery explicitly works for medium armor, but increases the dex bonus on all metal armor.
