Pheromone arrows and ranged attacks

Rules Questions

If I shoot someone with a peromone arrow does the bonus they give to creatures with scent apply to ranged attacks or just melee attacks?

Bump

I'd say all attacks within the range of the attacker's scent. Which is usually 30 ft, with variance for up/down-wind.

Indeed that makes more sense then just saying yes or no.
Seems my line of thought was too black and white.

I think it is pretty clear cut : the bonus is untyped (thus stacks with anything), it applies to ALL attack and damage rolls (no restriction based on natural attacks vs weapons or even spells such as rays, nor based on ranged vs melee) and the condition is that only creatures with Scent get it.

You can of course restrict it as you wish, but then this would be a houserule, not RAW. And it should probably lessen the price of the arrow (since it is an additional restriction).

Note that if you want to restrict it further, based on the fluff text, you could say that it works only if the target contains blood or sweat : ie, no plants, constructs, elementals, nor many outsiders and many undead.

If the thing you're attacking is out of your scent's range, how exactly is the pheremone arrow working for you? You can't smell the pheremones...but you still get the bonus? That actually makes sense to you?

I once asked the RAW to make sense to me. They answered "No".
