Resins for weapons?

Homebrew and House Rules

I hope I have the right forum - I'm still finding my way around here.

Ok, so I was playing Dark Souls the other day, and I picked up some Gold Pine Resin, which, if you haven't played Dark Souls, imbues your equipped weapon for a time with lightning, causing it to deal lightning-element damage. There's a resin for a few different elements. So I'm thinking of homebrewing something similar for my campaign, because I think it would be neat to use a resin to apply ghost touch to your weapon before going on a ghost slaying mission :)

Is there an item out there already that I just missed? If not, do you have any suggestions on how to roll some stats for an item like this?

Thanks!!

I had some ideas I forgot to post in my initial post:

I would think that the item should be a full-round action to apply to your weapon, and should only work until the end of the encounter. You could make it like a three-use item, or a single use if you want to get strict with it. Maybe you can develop it via alchemy? It would certainly make having an alchemist onboard a lot more useful.

Sounds like you want to expand Silversheen into a whole new class of items, more or less? Unless you need it to be nonmagical so it can be created with Craft (Alchemy) alone.

Weapon blanches kind of do what you are looking for as an item although they only last one hit.
