Paladin Weapon bond

Rules Questions

I have a question about weapon bond.
When a Paladin reaches level 5 he may bond his weapon. Let´s say he has a Longsword+1. What happens if he finds an adamantine longsword+1 can he transfer the bond?
Can you bond any weapon, even an axe of the dwarvish lords? It´s a weapon yes, but also an artefact?
Any answer would be really appreciated.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The way I read the ability, as long as the paladin doesn't activate the Divine Bond the weapon is not bonded to him. It's not like a wizard's bonded weapon. He then can call a Celestial Spirit into his weapon (the one he's currently using), giving it the enhancement bonuses, at which time it becomes bonded to him for 1 minute per paladin level.

If it gets destroyed in that time, he's screwed and can't use it for 30 days anymore. If the weapon gets destroyed without the bonuses, no problem (except he might be weaponless now).

So I guess yes, he could do all of what you ask.

You can use it on any weapon that doesn't already have a combined bonus of +10 or more when adding up enhancement bonuses and special abilities.

At least thats how I understand it.

In addition you can use it on a different weapon with each activation.

Thanks a lot!

The bond is not with a weapon but a spirit you can call into posess a weapon you have in hand. The only complication is if that weapon is destroyed while the spirit poseses it. Quatar and Umbranus have it right.
