Alchemical silver and magic

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

This is probably an easy question to answer, but I've never thought about it until now. Weapons whose sharp ends are made with alchemical silver deal 1 less damage than normal on a successful hit. Does this hold true to magic weapons made with alchemical silver, as well? For instance, the shifter's sorrow in Ultimate Equipment is a +1/+1 two-bladed sword with blades of alchemical silver. Does it have this -1 penalty to damage?

At a price of 12,780 gp to buy, and 6,780 gp to make, you'd think the buyer/crafter would have enough money to make the darn thing out of mithral to avoid that -1 damage penalty.

Liberty's Edge

Yup.
Mithral would also be way more expensive that that.

17,600 gp to buy, 11,600 gp to make if it was mithral instead of alchemical silver.

Liberty's Edge

Yup that's about right. Base weapon with no magic added shows the difference quite well too:

Alchemical Silver Two-Bladed Sword:
Base: 100gp
MW: +600gp
Alc. Silvering: +180

Total: 880gp

Versus:
Two-Bladed Sword:
Base: 100gp
MW: +0 (covered by the material)
Mithral: (500gp per pound) +5,000gp

Total: 5,100gp

That's even before you add any magic to it. So in the long run, Alc. Silver does have a small drawback, but it's WAY cheaper.
