Burbank, California?

Local Play

My wife and I are a couple of Pathfinder noobs (I played a lot of D&D years ago, she's new to tabletop RPGs). We sat down for a quick introductory game of Pathfinder at PAX recently, and when we got up again, two days had passed. Yeah, it was that good, and we were both hooked.

Now we're back home, and looking to join a group of nice folks in the Burbank, CA area. We're experienced, mature gamers overall, just new to the Pathfinder experience. We're also nice as pie. In fact, if you invite us to check out your group/game, we might even *bring* pie.

Thanks!

I'm in Studio City, and been hankering to play some fresh Pathfinder. Are you looking for Official Pathfinder Society games or just some casual fun?

If it's the latter, I'd love to meet up and talk about maybe setting up a game.

I'm Jeremy, by the way. And pie is...well, is heaven.

I actually don't know the difference between the two. If you could give me a quick rundown, that'd be awesome, but I suppose either would be pretty cool!

Well from what I know of it, Pathfinder Society games are officially sanctioned by Paizo and require registered Venture Captains in order to gain points (or some such).

Your rank can increase in the Pathfinder Society if you play the officially sanctioned games. I wouldn't be able to facilitate that as I am not a Venture Captain nor affiliated with the Pathfinder Society in any way.

I'm just a guy who owns a lot of books and could Game Master some Pathfinder. If you're wanting to just play some Pathfinder with a group of fun lovers, that I might be able to facilitate.

Pathfinder Society does not require registered Venture Captains to run, you simply need GMs who want to run PFS modules and 3+ players who want to play.

The advantage of PFS (Pathfinder Society) is that your character(s) are completely portable between GMs, games, regions and stores. Simply play a sanctioned module, gain the chronicle for playing the event, and every 3 games, you raise a level. Organized play provides the boundaries and progression that makes these characters portable.

We have many Pathfinder society games here in Southern California: Check out our LA Grand Lodge Society page on Facebook: LA Grand Lodge Society Page on Facebook

Membership is open to all.

To build a PFS legal character simple follow the guidelines provided free here on Paizo's web site The Guide is a free download.

You are in luck since we have regular monthly PFS games at the Game Empire in Pasadena, right next door to you. We have many other monthly games within easy driving distance in surrounding suburbs in the LA area.

We are having a gaming convention in 2 weeks in Anaheim, and that is a GREAT place to meet players from througout the area and to hook up with those players. Socal Smackdown

We have an active and great community of Pathfinder players in the area. A number of the PFS players also participate in home games of Pathfinder, but again the best place to hook up with them is to come on down to the number of events that are occuring in the area.

Hope to see you at one of the events, and come on over and join the facebook group.

Huni, you should come on down and check out these games also, and you will see how simple it is to jump in!!

Pathfinder RPG is simply an adaptation and evolution of the D&D 3.0&3.5 rule set, often affectionately called D&D 3.75 as a nickname, but still its own separate rule set.

Pathfinder can be played as a rule set for the adventure paths and modules and other awesome products paizo and third party publishers put out.

Pathfinder Society Organized Play is like playing in a world wide league of gamers all playing the same campaign together. It's like being in a cooperative sports league, everyone is playing games together to have fun, really just having a good time and not competing to see who is better.

In Pathfinder Society Organized Play, you play a member of the Pathfinder Society, seeking fortune and glory all over the face of Golarion. At the same time, your character works for one of the competing factions, all with their own motivations and secret agendas.

Play is organized into Seasons, throughout which the actions and achievements of you and your fellow Pathfinders create an ongoing storyline. Each season consists of at least 28 Pathfinder Society scenarios (short, 4-hour adventures) set in a variety of exotic locations across Golarion.

Pathfinder Society doesn't require a venture captain to play your game, one player GM's and then you need at least 3 (with 1 proxy generic pregenerated character for a 4th seat), but ideally no more than 6-7 players at a single table.

Everyone plays the module and completes it gets 1 point for completing the overall mission and if they completed their side quest, then they get an additional 1 Point. You get 1 Credit for completing the module as a player and the person who GM'd gets 1 credit for GM'ing the module. Everyone gets a separate chronicle (i.e. record sheet) sheet to track that you've completed this scenario/module, then the GM posts the data to Paizo's site for each character/player number.

Its not that complicated and is a ton of fun, I've played games with friends and strangers from Los Angeles to Texas, up North in Indianapolis and even in New York. You can find games everywhere!
