Homebrew engineer

Homebrew and House Rules

I have created a homebrewed engineer class that I would like to post and get some feedback on. However, I don't know the legal mumbo-jumbo on what I can cannot post. For example, I have pictures in the document; do I have to find and list the artist? Also, the class is based on Paizo's stuff. Do I have to put the OGL remarks at the end of the document? And if so, do I have to put all the books I used (CRB, APG, UM, UC)?

Also, I saw and used some ideas that I saw on the forums as well. How would I credit these ideas?

If you have concerns about the rights to the document's graphics, just post the class' mechanics. A simple block of text in a "homebrew" subforum doesn't warrant any OGL legalese.

As far as crediting ideas, if you remember where you saw them and want to credit the author, drop a link to the thread. This is would be more of a courtesy than a requirement.

a lot of credit to Christopher Delvo for a couple ideas! See his ideas here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BygeGgIcxI-2enpzcy1EdGVuak0/edit

Idon't think that knowledge (all) is right. religion and planes in particular seem really strange for them, and nobility too.

There's a strong mismatch between the name of Brief Insight and the effect of it. /maybe just a +2 bonus to any knowledge check, and cn make it untrained, but ony a limited number of timesper day? I'm not sure, especially with the above concern about all knowledges.

Tubes: I'm generally a fan of "spel-less" engineers since they get more interesting things and it makes them a bit more unique. I'm a bit confused by the tubes too. They're SLAs, but not innately known? That's really weird, and just making them SLAs is not the best idea either. These are a bit TOO spell-like to be spell-like abilities, IMO. Also, I don't see a limit on the number of uses per day. Or how they add new ones. There's mention of replaing one at "half cost" when it's sundered, but I don't recall ever seeing a cost to halve!

Spell list seems fine. I like how it's mostly object spells or buffs.

Sight goggles: what happens if they already have darkvision? And darkvision 60' isn't so great
at 10th level.

Shield attachment: /small shields don't exist and if you meant a light shield, your hand could be free anyways, since tht's the advantage of light shields :) A cool idea though. Oh I see why they count it as a free hand. It turns into a heavy shield (unless you really meant it turns into a large sizedshield).

Muleback: do hey still take up a slot? If so, why make them a contraption?

Jolting zap breaks the format of other contraptions by not having Improved and Upgraded (or whatever it was!) and instead having the multiple times text.

Grenades in general give me the feeling that they need to be redone. I can't place why though. It may just be the strangeness of the "powerful, but very limited uses per day" they have going on. I recommend running the math on them and comparing them to a sorcerer focusing on blasting.

Liquid coolant: the second upgrade needs to be redone. It doesn't actually do much of anything by itself. In PF, it's not until you get 2 points of ability damage that penalties start.

Other than that, nothing popped out at me as too broken. I'd rethink the spells bit, and think hard on the 'nades.

Thanks Cheapy! I'll go through it again and see what changes I can come up with.
