Stacking Floating Disc

Rules Questions

Floating Disc says it "The disk also winks out if you move beyond its range or try to take the disk more than 3 feet away from the surface beneath it."
If I cast three of these on top of each other I would have a wall of discs I could float around to block things. MOnsters could squeeze inbetween them to get at me but that would be horrible for them to try.

Just curious about if that would work.

The disk floats approximately 3 feet above the ground at all times and remains level.

You have to read the whole description. If you cast it three times, you have three discs trying to occupy the exact same space, since they are all 3 feet above the ground.

That's the way magic works now. You're not allowed to engage in creative problem solving because it marginalizes non-casters.

What if I catsed one on a 4 foot high surface and floated over the top of another disc. The intial casting is 3 feet off the ground. But can be moved on top of other surfaces.

Liberty's Edge

I would imagine it as a collection of finely tuned magnets that you're trying to force into progressively more strenuous locations, and that at best you'd be pushing your luck. Imagine a stack of 10 shield-sized rare earth magnets suddenly slamming into place...

Hoverboards don't work on water

I don't think it would work. While I appreciate the attempt to cheese it up.

There is already spells that give you cover.
