It's official.... DeLoreans are now cool.

From this entry in the Tor Blog you can see the main cast of Dr. Who arriving for the New York premeire of the new season. They arrived in three DeLoreans, the other choice of transportation when your TARDIS is up on blocks.

Unfortunately, in the real car world they are regarded as rubbish.

They are wonderful cars from what I read.

I had a friend who owned one... they look great on the outside, but the inside feels pretty cheap/poorly made, unfortunately.

I'm surprised no one puts new interiors in old deloreans, actually. The stainless steel body will last forever.

The new company that builds them has them as fully modernized electrics.

There was an early Top Gear special about the car and the company (which pre-dates the Texa company's modern versions) and neither came off very well. Poor design elements, substandard parts and construction....it was very gloomy watching to someone who liked the movie and the car.
