Enchanter Class: Part 1

Homebrew and House Rules

I'm looking for ideas for a class that centers around enchanting. Starting with an animated object companion, temporary item enchantments and some low level dis-enchanting abilities.

Any other ideas?

What you're looking for will usually be referred to as an "Artificer," largely for historical reasons. An "Enchanter" is specifically a Wizard specialized in the Enchantment school, and may occasionally refer to other arcane casters who make use of many of these spells. There were a few 3PP classes during the 3.X era that were called "Alchemists" that had a more general magic-item focus. The WOTC-made class (closed content) appeared in the Eberron campaign setting and was, well, the Artificer.

I don't like the Artificer, this one will be more versatile.

Hopefully

There are probably two ways to go about the basic concept: the usual method of turning mundane items into magical items, which would probably entail creating a Wizard archetype; or infusing items with "spirits". The flavour of the latter system depends greatly on what kind of spirits you'd use: undead spirits, elemental ones or souls.
