If I disarm an opponent, where does the weapon land? Does it land in his square, or an adjacent square?

The reason I ask is because I want to disarm with a reach weapon, and wanted to know if it's possible to disarm the weapon into the square between us, then pick up said weapon.

I have always assumed it landed in the same square as the opponent, since all you are doing is knocking it out of their hands.

Ask your DM, but I'd assume the square they're in, or do it like a missed grenade weapon (roll a d8)

The Disarm rules simply state that the target drops its weapon, not that it flies anywhere else, so I believe it would be in their square. This is supported by the text of the Greater Disarm Feat:

Benefit: You receive a +2 bonus on checks made to disarm a foe. This bonus stacks with the bonus granted by Improved Disarm. Whenever you successfully disarm an opponent, the weapon lands 15 feet away from its previous wielder, in a random direction.

Normal: Disarmed weapons and gear land at the feet of the disarmed creature.
