Alternate magic item creation

Homebrew and House Rules

Hey there!

Anyone knows a alternative magic item creation where one can infuse a portion of himself on the item?
What I am looking is a temporary item (only last days, two months max) that works on life force infused. The player must be weaker the entire time when the iten is working (perhaps slowly getting better when the item gets weaker).

I will be GMing a world where the magic feeds in the life force of the magic user, so I will try the Advanced Magic (BESM d20), but the Magic item creation (using character points) doesn´t match my idea.

So, any thoughts?

I remember a frind had some particular hungry items.

It wasn't a whole new system, just tacked on.
The example I can remeber was the wraith broach - see the novel Green Rider by Britin (sp?).
On mental command the broach would turn you into a ghostly mostly invisible incorporial form.
Every round in form, have to make a will save DC=15. Every round, the DC +1. If failed will save, one ability (rolled randomly) would be reduced by 1 point. This was your spirit feeding the magic.
Recovery: Every day make a fort save to regain a point (randomly rolled from the abilities reduced). The DC=15 if resting for the day. The DC=20 if not resting.

I'm not sure I got the exact details correct, but it was something like this. Seems like maybe you also had to make a concentration check to activate and deactivate it.
