Let's say that I'm a Summoner mounted on my eidolon. I have the feat Mounted Shield (along with its per-requisites) and I cast the shield spell upon myself which grants a shield bonus of +4.

Benefit: You may add your base shield bonus (including the bonus from Shield Focus but not including enhancement bonuses) to your mount’s AC. In addition, you may add this bonus when making a Ride check to negate a hit against your mount using the Mounted Combat feat.
RAW, would I be able to apply the benefit of that Shield spell to my eidolon and to use it when using my Mounted Combat feat?
The question is really esoteric due to the fact that the Summoner class features Shield Ally and Greater Shield Ally are in fact non-stackable shield bonuses as well (I hate that rule), but it got me thinking about spell-casting mounted characters...
Shield spell is a shield bonus, so I don't see why not.
It doesn't work. The shield spell is a separate shield bonus which does not stack with your Summoner ability.
You can however share your shield spell with your eidolon. Or just cast it on it.
Seems to me that it would work, but it wouldn't stack and therefor would be of limited benefit (Ride check enhancement only).
It could open the door to some mounted spellcasters though.

I'm playing around with my mounted Wild Caller and I'm leaning pretty heavily towards taking a couple levels of Roughrider (inspired by the need for a reliable proficiency with the lance among other things). Just saw this combo and wondered at its effectiveness and efficacy
