Half Orc paladin

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I'm looking for suggestions for a half Orc paladin.

I'm not building for power, I want him to be interesting and kind of quirky, if possible.

Any ideas on a dirty or some other philosophy?

Could be fun.
not sure what you are asking for on a "dirty" tho?

Are you looking for roleplaying hooks or character build advice?

You might want to check out the Redeemer archetype in Advanced Race Guide.

This is a character I built for Carrion Crown. Unfortunately, work and personal constraints meant I had to drop from that group shortly after we started. Feel free to borrow ideas from him.

Edit: His background is written partially to outline the Campaign Trait for the AP. But, there's still a good bit of flavor for the character in it.

Oops, meant dirty.

Dirty. The auto correct on my phone keeps changing it to dirty. I hate autocorrect.

Diety. Diety. Diety. Uuuuuuuuugh.

Yeah a deity that is either Lawful-Neutral Good or Lawful Neutral

I guess I am looking for some roleplaying hooks as well as some interesting choices for a Diety.

You could maybe do something with Druma. They have an oddball religion.

Maybe Galt? Kind of an interesting place to be a Paladin.

Redeemer is an awesome flavor for half-orc paladins.

Combine that with Sarenrae's crusading tendencies and the paladin's partial orc nature, and you could have an interesting case of a character wrestling with the concept of conquering a people(read: orcs) in order to save them.

Was the half-orc raised in a loving environment or kept on the outs? Either way, Erastil could hold a lot of appeal for a lot of different reasons, resulting in a divine hunter who fiercely protects the community that took him in or fights to make it a place safe and welcoming of "outcast" races such as his.

Iomedae, being a war goddess, could hold a lot of appeal as well. Simultaneously showcases a half-orc paladin's idealism and violent side, with the latter being held in check and kept weaponized by the former.

Shelyn? A half-orc adherent of Shelyn would likely be loyal as hell to the goddess that took her in unconditionally. Such a character would be well aware of the beauty in all things and highly empathetic with those whose appearance or the nature of their birth left them on the outs. Redeemer would fit naturally with this deity as well.

Abadar presents a lot of the possibilties Erastil does, but with much more of a focus on procedure. A half-orc paladin may have very well been raised in a government/church-run orphanage, and could be striving to work within the system to better the lot of his kind and other minorities and oppressed peoples. They may be more prone to take the long view on matters than Erastilian half-orc paladins, though such patience may be difficult for many to maintain.

Half-orc paladins of Irori might focus on rising above the nature of their birth to become something greater. But others may very well focus on coming to an understanding of both sides of their nature and work to galvanize them into a greater, stronger whole.

Then there are all the Empyreal Lords and other minor deities. Milani's righteously rebellious nature may hold a lot of appeal for idealistic half-orcs that lack the patience to follow Iomedae's rigid code. Ragathiel, with the dark origins he himself overcame, would hold a lot of appeal for half-orcs trying ot overcome the stigma of their heritage.

My son is playing a Half-Orc Paladin of Iomeade in a Serpent's Skull AP we are in (he, me, and Momma). We built him as a child of the temple. He was left in the care of the temple (we never fleshed out the connection: foundling; ilegitimate child; progeny of assault, etc) and the temple elders decided to keep him cloistered. Such isolation did nothing to quell his combative nature, so that nature was turned to Iomeade's purposes. His first mission as an ordained Paladin was to present himself to the Aroden/Iomeade temple in Eledar. This would essentially remove his presence from offended eyes.
He views life outside the temple as his chance to cut loose a little, and he has explored drink, and the company of a female. He is a stout executor of Iomeade's tenets, and his battle stance has been referred to as " a steadfast refusal to die".

I love the idea of Ragathiel. Now that captures my imagination.

It made me think of a theme for him. Instead of "Might makes Right", reverse it: "Right makes Might".

I can see him being raised in a small, obscure monastery devoted to the Empyreal Lord. Hmmmmm. Cool.

Now to work on a code.
