Earliest you can expect a date is late January. That's what happened this year.

I was thinking the same and will plan to go my first PaizoCon . I will travelling by train from Los Angeles so I have figure how to get to con from station. Has anyone have ideas? Thanks in advanced.

My wife and I did nearly all of our PaizoCon travel around the Seattle area this year via their public transit system. It can be a little tricky while juggling your travel bags, but otherwise served us well.
Information about PaizoCon 2013 is still a few months out. There will be plenty of ways we'll let you know the details once we know them.
You can trust us -- we won't tell. ;-)

A couple I met took the train from SD (or was it Sacremento?) They said it was awesome and they only had to walk a block they pointed out the window as if they could see the train depot (maybe there was a connecting bus though?)
The cool thing was they planned to get enough people to ride the train with them and host a game on the way up or the return. :) I would ask for ride-sharing opportunities closer to the date.

I am totally looking forward to next years PaizoCon. The construction in the hotel really spread out the con this year, making it really difficult to find that intimate feeling I had during my first PaizoCon. Hopefully with the extra space things will be more centrally located and I won't feel like I am running around aimlessly.
Also, I am already planning a few games I want to run. Maybe I can properly introduce my campaign setting in 2013!

A train to paizocon? that definitely sounds like something i would do. from sacramento even.
would even consider it if paizo used warhorn to premuster the tables for PFS up there.
A train from Southern Cal to PaizoCon would be awesome! Gaming galore! It'd be like a GenCon on wheels!!!

What would the cost of such a trip be? That might be something my wife and I could do instead of the 20 hour road trip.
Checking Amtrak.com, about $340 round trip between San Diego and Seattle, each, before any discounts. You would need to leave on Wed. morning and arrive Thursday night. Departure would be monday and arrive sometime tuesday I think. I might look into it but that's a big expense added to hotel rooms, compared with driving from sacramento. Its about $290 from sacramento round trip before discounts. I can save about $50 with my veteran's advantage card though.

Looks far more expensive then the road trip my wife and I took. However, next year are planning on camping halfway and break the trip into two days, so it might be even on cost.
Yeah, add in two more days in the hotel, and it doesn't come out as favorably either. Greyhound might be more affordable.
I can make the drive in a day from my place, and if I need I have relatives in Portland I can stop over at. But, finances being what they are, I may skip paizocon again anyway. I can only afford maybe 2 cons a year, and there are some closer ones than seattle for sure.
Looking at Amtrak for round trip from Orange County CA (southern California) is $268 so will consider this.

re: Amtrak, keep checking prices. I just checked, and found a price of $150 for San Diego to Seattle.
Also, AAA membership sometimes will give you a discount as well.
Also, I just started watching Big Bang theory. In the episode I just saw, they took the Coastal Starlight from LA to San Francisco. The real train looks nothing like the set they used. They were right that you want so sit on the West side of the train, though.
Also, I've never run across Summer Glau on it, alas.

Any news on dates yet? Some of us come a long way - even further than from San Diego - and a certain amount of prior planning is needed to hunt for discount flights and to plan vacation time from work.
I'd hate to miss Paizocon because the dates were announced too late to get my leave app in

That would be my wife and I... and yes, we came in from Sacramento. We went coach the entire way up but had a room on the way back as we both had to go to work immediately upon our arrival back in town.
It was definitely the way to go. Although the rooms are a bit more expensive than coach seating, remember what's included: meals and drinks (mostly non-alcoholic), beds, shower, and they even had a free wine tasting. As the train passed back through various winery regions, we got to taste the wines they produce. It was neat to see the vineyard and taste the wine all while enjoying the ride home. Oh and don't forget, coach seating on the train is vastly different from coach on a plane. You actually get something capable of reclining, a table, outlets, leg AND feet rests!!The best part is AMTRAK doesn't require you to get to the station hours early, they don't cavity search you, and you can have up to five bags (of course you have to be able to carry them all on/off yourself with a little help).
As far as getting in town is concerned, it couldn't be easier. Based on the recommendations from another thread, we took the public bus. It picks up around the corner from the station and drops off right across the street from the hotel (hence the finger pointing at the glass). I believe the bus ride was 15-20 minutes and cost us about $3.00...
I can't find a way to stay for the entire convention, without arriving a day before and leaving the day after...that's an extra two days of hotel fare. not a great option in my opinion. Its do-able, if you cut down on gaming or convention time though. I'd likely be coming in from sac as well (catch an amtrak bus down from marysville)
I flew in Tuesday this year, leaving Monday. The extra time to spend with people as they roll in is simply invaluable - far more important to me than the actual table time (with some exceptions of course).
For the record, Late January was the 2011 announce time. Other years have been in November or so.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a date announced within the next couple of weeks. Thanksgiving and our Black Friday sale (as well as some key people being at an Italian convention the two weeks prior to that) conspired to prevent an announcement up until this point, but I'm pretty confident we now know in-house when the date will be, and I can't think of a reason why we wouldn't announce it some time in December.
I hate to be so cagey about this, but we are very, very close to being able to announce the date for 2013.
