Do dwarves have weapon prof with dwarven waraxe?

Rules Questions

do dwarves have the wep prof for dwarven warax ro do they need the feat?

in another thread having this argument and need a definitive answer.

Dark Archive

They do not have the prof for it unless they have martial weapon prof.

The other thread the cleric would not have prof with dwarven waraxe unless he takes the feat martial weapon prof dwarven waraxe.

Grand Lodge

A dwarf treats a dwarven waraxe as a martial weapon. If he's proficient with martial weapons, he's proficient with the waraxe, otherwise, not.

I'm interested as well, have been discussing this with my player and GM when i'm playing.

What they said. Dwarves treat it as a martial weapon. If a character has martial weapon proficiencies (fighters, barbarians, paladins, etc.) then they're proficient. Classes that don't have martial weapon proficiency (clerics, wizards, bards, etc.) aren't.

sums it up. thanks gents.
