I'm building an Aasimar cleric of Torag for PFS, and I'm hung up on picking my second trait. The character concept is that he was adopted by a clan of dwarves at a young age, but left to satisfy his wanderlust. He'll have the Caves and Exploration subdomains (he's a Separatist), and ranks in Profession (Miner) and Knowledge (Engineering). His primary focus is on casting, and secondary focus on channeling to heal.

I've already decided on Guardian of the Forge for my first trait, to get Knowledge (Engineering) as a class skill. I'm considering Exalted of the Society to get an extra channel per day, or Glory of Old to shore up my saves. Although that one is from "Dwarves of Golarion," so I'm not sure if an Aasimar can take it (and I don't want to buy the book just to find out). Any other suggestions? I'd like to get Perception as a class skill, or get a bonus to Reflex saves, but I can't find any that fit my build and backstory.

sacred conduit +1 channel resist DC

just a suggestion. I like it better than the 1 extra channel a day.

Wait, Separatist with two domains? Is that rules legal?

Also, I'd suggest Adopted and getting a Dwarf trait through it, since it makes sense.

I thought about it, but an extra channel would come in handy when not facing undead, and even when I am facing undead, it still helps.

You might be confusing it with the Theologian. Separatist gives me one domain from my deity's list (Caves), and another that isn't (Exploration), albeit at a penalty.

I looked into that, but I couldn't find any Dwarf traits I like. Any suggestions?

The Caravan Protector one. It gives you perception, which is a really important skill, to hear people in the forums talk.

Where is that trait found? It's not on the PFSRD.

It's called "Militant Merchant"

Then again Anybody could take Valashmai Veteran Trait for perception, and that's a LITTLE better, but if the dwarf flavor if what you're after, Militant Merchant is a good trait.

Liberty's Edge

In Faiths of purity, on page 17, one of Torag's worshipper traits is called Defensive Strategist, in which you are not considered flat-footed in either a surprise round or if some enemy acts before your initiative, so that enemy couldn't get a sneak attack bonus on you in those instances (I believe they still do get the bonus in case of a flank though).

And I guess you also keep your Dex AC/CMD too. Not entirely sure about attacks of opportunity part though.

Yeah, Militant Merchant could work. I could pretty easily work that into my backstory. However the one trait I do have picked out is already a religion trait, so Defensive Strategist is out.
