How many build points is it regularly accepted for a character?

I would guess, 24 or 25, but I want to make a 35 point build for my character. I'm new to pathfinder society, so I just wanted to know.

PFS characters are always 20 point buy. For more information, check out the Guide to Organized Play, accessible from the big PFS logo over on the left of your screen.

And you'll be glad you're not using 35pt buy. The CR system is balanced around 15pt PCs. Going 35 (more than double!) would make the challenges laughable. :P

There's a chance also you're thinking of the 3.5 build system, which has different rules to it. 20 point buy is more than enough for this game. My home game plays with 15 and still slices through most encounters easily.

Is pathfinder society focused on role playing or in combat?
Have to ask, maybe its 50/50, I don't know

Depends on the scenario, but there's a healthy balance in many of skill checks, saves, and combat from my experience.

It varies from scenario to scenario and table to table, though on average I would say:

40% Combat
25% Roleplaying
20% Skill Checks
15% Puzzles

Given a good GM you can almost always find out of combat stuff to do. Often depends on time and group play style

I must agree I always have my group role play things out combat has to be done but if we just wanted to kill things we would play a video game.
