Oracle of Life Question

Liberty's Edge

This has probably been asked before, but I'm just curious and I couldn't find any recent threads discussing it. The oracle of life gets mass heal as a mystery spell at level 16. Mass heal is a 9th level oracle spell. So, does the oracle of life somehow get mass heal as an 8th level spell, or does he just have a 9th level spell known and he has to wait until he gets to 18th level to be able to cast it?

When you receive bonus spells, they are for your highest current spell slot. In this case, Mass Heal is an 8th level spell.

Seriously? Wow, that's...really good.

...It's on the Oracle of Life. If they don't heal better than Clerics, why would anyone play them?

Well, the oracle of life already gets Channel (with fewer uses, but using their casting score to determine daily uses), Life Link (which is a beast of a heal ability, as you can just toss it on the entire party and then touch-range heal yourself), Safe Curing, Combat Curing, and the ability to turn into a solar elemental, which is freaking awesome.

Still though. Mass heal a full level before the cleric gets it, and using a spell slot lower...combine that with the CL cap increased to 25 and you have one hell of an 8th level spell.

Oracle of Life is best healbot, and a high CHA makes you a great party face too.
