Additional Reading Before running RotRL

Rise of the Runelords

Liberty's Edge

Anyone have any suggestions for additional reading before running RotRL?

Thanks in advance,

The best readings to start with are probably story hours... In my opinion the best are the ones from Moonbeam and Jolly Doc.

Then you could follow what JJ suggests at the beginning of the just released book.

Dark Archive

Pathfinder Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Starfinder Charter Superscriber

Varisia Player's companion for the area
Magnimar book before getting there
Lost Kingdoms chapter on Thassilon
Classic Monsters Revisited

Liberty's Edge

Thank you so much. That was what I was looking for. Thinking about reading the thin book about Goblins too since they make the first book fun.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32

One thing that you should also do before running RotRL is review the reach rules.

With the large number of Large creatures in this AP, they will become important.

Liberty's Edge

Thank you LF.

Speaking of reach rules and to add to Enlight's list above I would highly recommend Giants Revisited as well. Lost Cities of Golarion has a chapter on Xin-Shalast.

Also, depending on how thorough you want to be, you could also look at Classic Horrors Revisited for the section on Ghouls. Way down the road, before you start Part Six, you could also check out Mythical Monsters Revisited for the section on Wendigo.

Finally, the Rival Guide has an adventuring party known as the Kodar Kneecappers who hunt giants in Varisia. They can act as an excellent group of allies or an inconvenience to the party (they've been both in my campaign) for a bit of extra fun.
