Oh! I see! But in the meanwhile the current pregens are good to go on the current rules?

If you play a 1st-level pregen, you can just use the same stats, change the name, and make it your character. There's also not really a big issue with playing your first game with a pregen, then assigning the Chronicle to another character entirely as described in the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play.
I'd strongly encourage people to avoid doing this with a higher-level pregen, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

so can I play a 4th level pre-gen and then apply the credits and stuff to a current character? I have friends that want to play a 3-5 game and i don't have a character low enough so they suggested I play a pre-gen

You cant do it for a HIGHER character.
Quick example:
You have a level 2 rogue.
Your friends want to play in a 3-4 subtier scenario. You then pickup and play a level 4 pregen with them. When you report the scenario, you put down your rogue's PFS number. The chronicle sheet for the scenario goes "on hold" for your rogue.
When your rogue reaches level 4 (the same level of the pregen you played), then the chronicle sheet comes off "hold" and applies immediately to it.
In your case, you can play a level 4 pregen and apply the credit to a NEW level 1 character, but not the higher level one (you wouldn't want to anyway).

Actually you would apply that Chronicle as soon as your character hit level 3, since the scenario was played at subtier 3-4. If you had played a subtier 4-5, then you would assign the Chronicle when your character hit level 4.

Currently Jon, that's not how it works. When you apply a pregen credit to an existing character, you apply it when the character reaches the level of the Pregen, not the lowest level of the chronicle.
So playing a 4th lvl pregen and applying it to a 2nd level char, you wouldn't apply it until 4th level.
Now, it might change with the new guide, but that is how it is now.
If you play
a non-1st-level pregenerated character, you can apply
the credit to your character as soon as she reaches the
level of the pregenerated character played.

This is not the case, and I hope for the love of god it is clarified in the new 4.2 guide, because it seems to come up ALL the time still:
If you play a non-1st-level pregenerated character, you can apply the credit to your character as soon as she reaches the level of the pregenerated character played. You may also opt instead to apply the credit from the non-1st-level pregenerated character played to a newly created character with the GP gained reduced to 500 GP (or 250 for characters using the slow advancement track).
