I'm just starting to read through the PFS guides and what not, just wondering how much I need to read before I start on my character? Probably going to play a summoner if that helps.

I would read up to the GM section in the PFS Guide, there is a lot of useful information in there that might influence character creation. Also you want to look at the additional resource document on the PFS website to make sure everything you want to use is legal.
