So about 6 months ago we launched Legendary Levels, rules for epic level play for Pathfinder and to be perfectly candid- we were not ready for the kind of overwhelming response we got! At the request of the community we went full steam ahead and we've spent the last few months writing, play-testing, editing, laying out and illustrating our next three Legendary Levels books.

With this book series I think we've really created the definitive rule set for epic level play for Pathfinder. Our next three Legendary Levels books are:

-Legendary Levels 2
Slated for an August release (aiming for the 10th) we have packed Legendary Levels 2 with all the stuff the original Legendary Levels book didn't have in it. We have character class progression from 20-30 for all the classes presented in Paizo's Advanced Player's Guide, Ultimate Magic, and Ultimate Combat. We've included several prestige classes suitable for epic level play, a legendary version our own psychic base class (from the Tome of Bizarre), a whole slew of new feats, and lore.

We tapped one of our best artists (Sayla Barnes) to do the art for this product. She previously worked on our “Rogue's Gallery” book and she has really outdone herself on this one. Sayla even developed something of a new art style for this book. She worked using only black and negative space to bring to life legendary versions of your favorite character classes. You can see some preview art for this on our Facebook.

The book was written by Scott Gladstein, who wrote the original Legendary Levels book. He's back for round 2! Other credits include: Tome of Ingenuity, Tome of Bizarre, Rune Smith, Little Red Goblin Game's Racial Guide, Subtle as a Drow, Tome of Wicked Things, Tome of Devotion.

-Legendary Levels Magic Guide
Caleb Aylsworth returns to his true love: Magic and items for this book. He wrote the magic and items sections of the original Legendary Levels guide and now we gave him his own book! He's put in a tremendous amount of effort to the this book. This book contains an array of true dweomers and sacred spells for your characters to select. Art is by Jon Achy who's experience on other Little Red books speaks for itself.

-Legendary Bestiary (AKA: The Deific Bestiary)
The Bestiary presents a whole slew of new adversaries for your to face. This book is called the “Deific Bestiary” around the office because the only adversaries suitable for characters at this level of power are the gods themselves. In addition, this book includes a toolbox to actually BUILD and stat-out your own deities (and we include a verity of pre-built ones as well).

This book is written by the designer with probably the coolest name possible. “Maverik Bishiop” (Tome of Munitions, Invoker, Rogue's Gallery, Doodle Dice Monsters). He's got a GREAT track record and I know his love of mythology came into play on this book.

Shadow Lodge

I'm okay with this.

Pardon:
The release dates are:
Legendary Levels 2 (Aug. 10th)
Legendary Magic Guide (Aug. 28th)
Legendary Bestiary (Sept. 13th)

Please allow for a little wiggle room the farther out it gets. Our production schedule is pretty tight but it might flex a week or two.

We have plans for a combined hard-copy book as well. (It will have all 4 books in one) That is slated for a later release date this year (possibly Spring 2013).

Why hadn't I heard of this yet?!

I'm reading through the reviews now and I'm fairly sure I'll be buying these when my gaming budget allows. Thanks for tackling this!

No problem. We actually have the original book on sale. I hate to drive people away from Paizo.com but we are running a 50% off sale on DriveThru until the release of Legendary Levels 2.

I just got confirmation last night from one of our writers that if we get a good response on our first month sales, Maverik Bishop will develop and release legendary rules for the Invoker as well. This will probably come with out first update to the book after launch and will not cost anything additional.

Is there anything stopping you from running said special here?

Takes a few days to kick in here. The discount will be here as well.

Is this just PDF's or do you have books? PDF's are fine as backup but I prefer printed matter, especially for stuff over 10 pages.

We are talking with printing venues (and a few local gaming shops here in AZ) about pricing right now. We want to make sure we keep the cost down so you guys can all enjoy it!

We may end up going with a Print OnDemand service which would eliminate the warehouse fees but might reduce overall quality.

A combined book will probably be about the same page count as the Core Rulebook if I had to take a stab at it. I think it would make an excellent hard copy book.

We will keep you guys in the loop as we get information!

Would you guys prefer a hardcover at a higher price or a softcover at a lower price? Also- is interior color a big thing for you guys?

Okay so that is what you mean by hard copy. Wasn't sure.

My preference is for hardcover, saddle-stiched(sp).

Color and art are not an issue. I know how those features can be expensive.

If you do have this in print, I hope you make it available for customers in Canada.

Thanks.

Thanks for the input! Thats something we have been battling with for a while.

Our intention would be to ship internationally, however we obviously can't promise that until we have a deal hammered out with out printers.

If it ends up that we can't ship internationally, I think we can possibly work out something. (We buy it and ship it to you) Again, I'd have to look at the logistics but it seems like something we can work around for in this wonderful age of technology.

We love our non-US customers (we give Nearly Enough Dice a lot of our per-release material and they are in the UK/Scotland). The industry wouldn't be half of what it is without them!

Saddle-stitching is a binding method for softcovers - specifically, it's what's used on the Pathfinder Player Companions and Pathfinder Modules.

Oversewing would be great (especially on a book the size you're talking), but is probably going to be more expensive than case-binding.

I'm interested in a print book, myself. I'll be looking at the PDF shortly!

@brian

Thanks fo correcting me on the saddle stitching. I thought it meant a material between the spine and the paper in a hardcover. Obviously, I don't know how to call that. Forgive my lack of knowledge in both printing terms and Shakepeare's lingo.

@LRGG

Are you considering a Kickstarter project to help launch this book?
Also, where is you company located? Just wonderin....

I just bought volume 1 today from DriveThruRPG. Well done guys. I'm going to be picking up your other volumes as they come out. One question: any hope that we might see an adventure from you utilizing these new 'Legendary' rules? Besides the WotC 3.0 ELH rules being less than fun to utilize, the other major problem with epic/mythic/legendary gameplay has been a lack of follow up support in terms of adventures. Hopefully we'll see something from you in the pipeline for the future... <br /><br />

<br />My personal opinion is that, if an epic/mythic/legendary rules developer doesn't produce adventures based upon those rules, it gives the perception that they aren't confident enough in those rules to risk creating an adventure. Just my two bits. Again, great job and looking forward to the other volumes!

Hi Gondolin,

That's not outside of the realm of possibility.

We are located in Tempe Arizona (USA). It's just outside the capital of Phoenix.

Hi Johnny,

Thats great to hear! We love to get all the feedback we can.
I can't spoil anything but we are currently in the planning stages of our next "big project" that would incorporate a good deal of Legendary play into something similar to what your talking about. If we find it viable- you could be seeing it around the same time as the printed edition of the book. (But I agree- if there are legendary rules there need to be legendary modules.)
