A short time ago a member of my group informed me that your casting stat is added to any caster level check, and I looked it up in the "Magic" section and confirmed his statement.
Just now another member of my group said that that was not the case, and I looked it up again and could not find a reference to the casting stat.
Could someone clear this up for me? The most flattering explanation I can think of for my sanity is I was confused by the fact that you add your cast stat to concentration checks, but either way I'd like this resolved.

Concentration (CRB p206): d20+Caster Level + relevant ability score
Caster Level Check (many locations): d20+caster level
While there is no specific line that states 'caster level check is d20+caster level' there are multiple spells and abilities that in each occassion spell out that a caster level check is D20+caster level. There might be exceptions that add in another factor (example: a caster level check to beat SR you also add in racial, class, etc bonuses).
- Gauss
Edit: instances of Caster Level check defined:
Diamond Soul (p60-61)
Spell Resistance(ex) (p83)
Greater Spell Penetration (p125)
Spell Penetration (p134)
Spell Resistance (p217)
Numerous Spells
etc.
There is not one single instance of a Caster Level Check that includes an ability score modifier in the formula.

Okay - top of my head - things in which Caster Level check is used:
Overcoming Spell Resistance
Dispel Magic
For which we have Caster Level in the rules. If I am remembering correctly those just use your Caster Level (no bonus from casting stat).
Concentration checks do. Per the concentration check section of magic.

Caster level checks are also used to activate scrolls that are beyond your current ability to cast.
But no, a CL check is 1d20+CL. Concentration checks are 1d20 + CL + key ability. Different animal.

Yeah, every time a caster level check is mentioned in a spell (Remove Curse, Neutralize Poison, Dispel Magic) it reads "d20 + Caster level." But when I looked it up at my fellow-player's suggestion I thought I saw something different in the Magic section. Clearly that was me not paying enough attention and reading the concentration check rules instead.
Thanks for the speedy clarification.
