Wow...just...wow waiph lol. Sounds good and I will try not to kill you. However there is something big that is coming up that will be potentially pretty tough for you guys to handle.
Dhaavan
sorry... last time was the beginning of the game, and i got internet, but this time looks like none, so I'll be back next friday, but im around till saturday morning/afternoon till i get to the boarder...
Horatio Flynn
Have a good and safe trip, Dhaavan.
I didn't have much of a chance to post, though.
I've been feeling fairly horrible lately.
I went to bed at roughly 8:00 PM and woke up around 5:00 AM.
I didn't have a chance to read the boards until just recently.
It looks like the medical emergency was taken care of before I could get there, which is good news for the sick man (while I have a +10 in Heal; but I don't believe that will be able to beat Rain's natural 20 for a net of 26).
If I am needed, of course, I'll be there to help.
Just let me know.
Anyway, I'll probably post more later.
I'm feeling a little off right now.
Rain Taneththir
The young man needs surgery or he will possibly die. Rain isn't a surgeon (she only examined him and "diagnosed him"), so Flynn is still necessary.

Ah.
Well, I'm not too sure how surgery works.
I suppose that now we have had the diagnosis, the GM can advise us on what to do.
If I'm not mistaken, Heal Checks can be aided via a diagnosis. But I'm not entirely sure what needs to be done.
DM Immortal
you will get an aid check for the diagnosis. This is going to be pretty intense surgery though as the shards are embedded in the bone and very close to a major artery.
Here is how it will work. Horatio will need to make 4 heal rolls. Each one having a modifier based upon how well the surgery is detailed.
First roll is the stabilization phase, here you need to stabilize your patient so that they can survive the surgery.
Second roll is the surgical phase, this is where you remove objects, do internal repair, etc.
Third roll is the microsurgery phase, this is where you do small surgery and alterations to minimize reoccurrence of the disease/wound.
Fourth roll is the closure phase, this is where you sew up the wound, prepare proper dressings, administer herbs and tonics, etc.
A failed roll on one of the phases, means you need to reroll and also the next phase is more difficult. Failing twice on any phase kills the subject, in life threatening surgeries, or causes permanent damage, in non life threatening situations.
Horatio Flynn
Cool; writing is up, then the rolls.
My entire set of postings were built around the idea that Adular would help me.
If he can't formally do an "Aid" check, that's okay.
But I kept him in to have an aid for back-up for story purposes; I hope that's okay. Part "1" has two separate spoilers in it, FYI.
That said, I got to get going - I'm going to try meeting my dad for lunch.
If this was another assassin; and if we find him; he'll bleed for it! Grah!
Stupid assassins... :)
Please let me know where (if anywhere) I failed and I'll go from there. And if Adular can aid me, that would be sweet!
Thanks!
Also, would archeologists' luck apply as the stuff is over a period of time, or no?
DM Immortal
No unfortunately since Archaeologist's luck is done by rounds per day you wouldn't have nearly enough to see through a long surgery like this. I would allow that on a first aid check or something though.
DM Immortal
You mean you actually plan on detaching yourself from your computer and go out into *GASP*...the REAL world? That's UNPOSSIBLE! ;-)
DM Immortal
The hell you say! ;-) I don't believe it. That would make you almost...normal. *shudder*
Seijiro
ok - I checked in this morning, now I'm off to class, then pathfinder for the day - i'll be back on in the afternoon after the home game.

FYI, its my anniversary tomorrow so may not have a chance to post with dinner, movie, and miniature golf n the plans. You have Variel's preference for actions already but will defer if more info tells us there is no chance we can catch her.
Seijiro
Happy Anniversary Variel! Enjoy your day!
Horatio Flynn
I have been having some errors with posting lately.
I don't know why; it seems to be working better, now.
Sorry for any confusion.
Seijiro
not working any better for me - I seem to be able to post fine - but everyone else's posts look blank to me.
Rain Taneththir
The 'delete' button is no longer available to me. So, I have to remove the prior contents of a posting and save it and then make a new one, thus creating 'blank' entries.
Seijiro
I only have one blank post from you, but I show multiples from Flynn and amen-set, and you're right, no delete option any more... that kinds bites.
Rain Taneththir
Yes, only one blank entry from me. I think Flynn had the same issue with both his characters and thus he had to make blank entries to edit. I hope Paizo fix this bug but probably not before it's too late to get rid of all the blank entries on the board. Sorry.
DM Immortal
Is everyone busy? Kind of been quiet on the boards the last day or so.
Horatio Flynn
I posted a lot, but then I was worried that social RP may delay the combat a bit, and I was trying to resolve that quickly before Dhaavan got back so he wouldn't have to wait.
Worried my social RP may be a bit distracting, I tried to delete it; then I ran into problems with "deleting" things.
I logged out/in and tried again - no dice.
Then I tried other aliases - same problem.
I posted a thread about it, trying to find out answers; so far the general feel is that there is something wrong; but it's probably not on purpose, and hopefully things will be fixed soon.
We'll just have to see, though.
Anyway, that's why all the blank postings lately. They were deletes at first, followed by failed "tests" for postings that couldn't be deleted.
I'm hoping that gets resolves soon; it's not a big deal, I just find it annoying for some reason. As in like "what else is going on here?" kind of thing...
Rain Taneththir
Hey folks,
It's the middle of my work day and I have some things I need to attend to. I won't be back until later in my afternoon. Sorry for the delay.
Horatio Flynn
Nooo!
Well, hopefully we'll see you soon.
Hopefully the GM will give us a surprise round at least when we grapple these guys via the natural 20, but we'll just have to see what happens next.
DM Immortal
NP Rain, I'm heading to bed anyway. Also your bonus for her awesome roll was they were never able to shoot you all with their siege weapons.
Rain Taneththir
Paizo is being very slow for me right now and loading pages takes a little time. If I don't answer something straight away, it's because of this.
Seijiro
Sorry for being so slow to post, but just got back to the hotel after seeing the movie... it was AWESOME... just loved it.... can't wait for the dvd to come out in our region.
Seijiro
The live action Rurouni Kenshin movie. Had to drive all the way up to San Francisco to see it, but it was SO worth it!
Rain Taneththir
Putting this here as I forgot to roll it on the board earlier and do not want to confuse things in this new round. Rain determining what spell Amen-set used earlier.
Spellcraft (DC 16): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Okay, made the check.
Amen-set Neitaker
Okay, made the check.
I am channeling the voice of friend in the north lands to address that matter...
Pshaw! Thou were in no position to properly divine that power as thy eyes were too far astray and on other matters. If thou had first used a Perception Check; perhaps... as it stands, I think not!
Hmm... I don't know what that was about; seemed a bit archaic, but what can be done? If the Great Father wills it, we shall see more soon, senet...
Hmmm... who was that who spoke... I'm sensing a name... could it be, could it be, could it be... Dasha? Yes; that does sound quite correct! It must be her...
There is obviously no one else who fits the description ;)
Dhaavan
Welp I'm back to the internet from my phone, and looks like I'm missing quite a party! Dhaavan'd love sicking his devils on that demon-armored knight!
So there's a ship-load of slaves about to be freed, and perhaps brought to Tidewater? Bet we can get some for crew, and some to settle, maybe expand the island? It may be wise to add to the fighting-force on the rock.
We could offer to set those who want it free to make their way home, maybe have then participate in a raid or earn some money at the rock so they can buy transport to wherever they are going?
Horatio Flynn
...maybe have then participate in a raid or earn some money at the rock so they can buy transport to wherever they are going?
I believe they were headed to Alderaan... but I think we can rule that plan out, now :)
But technically, if they stay on the island and help cultivate land, crops, fish, and act as a guard for the keep; we'd have to pay them as hirelings.
Since we freed them, if they did that for free, I think we'd break even :)
Meanwhile, we've been at sea for maybe a week (round trip, assuming there are no other entanglements) what has Dhaavan been doing to take care of things on the island?
If you are able to summon some Earth Elementals; they may be able to help adjust the stream into the island and make it more defensible for any more of those Sahuangin attacks; or possibly supervise a modest watch tower over the mouth of the bay; or something like that?
I don't know, just guessing - but Dhaavan's clever and resourceful, I'm sure you come up with something awesome while we were away :)
See you when we get back!

takng the cover discussion here.
SO i looked it up, and it depends on weather or not the railing is soft cover, normal cover, Improved or total cover. for reference the rules kinda work as such:
Cover gives a +4 AC and a +2 to Reflex saves versus certain effects
Soft cover doesn't provide any bonus to reflex saves but gives the full +4 AC of cover.
Partial cover gives half bonuses (+2 AC, +1 Reflex)
Improved gives +8 AC and +4 Reflex
Total Cover means you cant be targeted by such attacks that cover protects from.
To the Undying Master of Games (Yu-Gi-OOOOOOOOOh) sorry I humbly ask, for current and future reference, what kind of cover the ship railings give. Seems like either normal or soft cover with the +4 AC but even if it affects reflex saves, would in block burst effects that do not entail a reflex save to avoid?
DM Immortal
They are cover and do not normally block burst effects...however that is when one is standing, if you are hidden behind it down on the deck then it gives you total cover from direct attacks from outside the ship.

It's all good, no worries.

I'm on Week 8 of this flu and it's hit me with renewed vigour. I may go see my doctor later today (still very early morning here now) as I can't continue being this run down. So, if I can't post in a timely fashion, you know the reason why. Thanks.
Variel Nightstorm

Good luck Rain. Hope you find something to kick it once and for good.
Rain Taneththir
Thanks, Variel. Me, too. Getting on with life isn't so pleasant when one can't breathe and is coughing up a lung.
Immortal, I'm wondering if Rain lost her Lead Blades spell as the opposing Captain asked her to desist or else Variel would die.
Seijiro
I hope you feel better and get better soon, Rain. Sounds like this flu has been lingering far too long to be normal.
