Kitsune and Nagaji and Wayang, Oh My!

Advice

I've got the Pathfinder Society boon allowing me to start a character based on one of these three races - and I am at a loss. I keep exploring and discarding various race/class/concepts and end up going in circles. So my question is, if you had such a boon and were building a PFS character - what would you do and why?

I dunno. Still working on choosing what to build with my boon. Incidentally, this should probably be in the Pathfinder Society section of the boards.

Nagaji Mysterious Stranger/Musket Master Gunslinger sounds cool.

I really REALLY want to do a Naga Aspirant Druid. So that's what I would choose.

I've been pondering a Wayang illusionist or heavens oracle, personally. Shadow specialty illusionist, for obvious reasons. But Heavens oracle because of the favored oracle class bonus that allows you to add an illusion spell from the wizard's spell list. For either one, the Shadow Gambit feat seems to be a fun addition.

I've also pondered a Nagaji paladin, both for the good synching of abilities and the fluff of figuring out how the paladin of a slave race would react to the world.

Kitsune Arcane Duelist Bard could be fun too.

The Exchange

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Kitsune rogue if you want to go with some awesome roleplaying potential (or Kitsune fighter who keeps taking the Magical Tail feat if you just want people to go "WHAT!")

Wayang Shadowcaster (Inner Sea Magic) for some cool flavor (and pretty powerful).

Nagaji Naga Aspirant Druid or Ranger with a Snake Companion who is REALLY Obsessed with Nagas.

I personally want to make a Nagaji Paladin since that negative to Intelligence means I can dump it all the way down to 5 and keep saying "Dehr, I dunno, ask my horse. He does the thinking for us." (A Paladin's bonded mount has an intelligence of 6.)

I'm having these same toughts. RopeCon* is upon me(and lot of other Finns) and I reckon these aforementioned ones'll be our boon races. Anyhow, I've had a few ideas:

- Kitsune Fey bloodline sorcerer: This'd be the cheese option. The sorcerer favored class bonus is incredibly good and the enchantment DC ability that kitsunes naturally get combined with the Fey sorc arcana makes for a really powerful "face" character.

- Nagaji Oracle of Wood. Putting everything into a nature focus, combining the racial str bonus with wood bond and flavoring everything into a lizardfolk mold might be cool. An oracle of battle is a natural fit as well, but there's something about nagaji that just begs for the serpent flavor. By the by...

- ...a Nagaji Serpentine bloodline sorcerer feels like pure win. A bonus into the casting stat? Well, hell yes. A Str bonus that either offsets the natural dump stat of sorcerers or combines with serpentine bite attack? Cool beans. A bloodline that fits well, with some reflavoring? The bestest part.

- Wayang Magus! It's a small race with an Int bonus yet no Str penalty! And they have an accompanying trait - Wayang Spellhunter - as well. Making a cool arcane adept with their spellbook flavored as a tattoo of a endless chain of white whorls on their hide is what I would go with. Alternatively, a Shadow school wizard is always there for grabs.

*No, not a bondage thing, though we used to have a workshop for that...
