Pathfinder Player Companion

I recently cancelled my subscription to the Player Companion line of books. Don't get me wrong - they're good work and everything, and I like them, but as my Pathfinder books expand from one shelf to two in the living room so does my wife's ire - I needed to cut back on physical purchases. While I had always planned to continue purchasing the PC line as a PDF, I figured my days of physical Player Companion were done. It would make a small difference, but any difference is a good one.

Then, I made the mistake of listening to a podcast of the banquet at PaizoCon, and you were so excited about the relaunch of the line. The magazine format sounded so great. Splash pages? Double-wide art pieces? Roles? How can I not want to own a copy of that physically?

Oh, and what's that? Where it used to be 32 pages + cover every two months, now it's going to be twice as often?

Well, that's just great.

Listen, fair warning: When my wife kicks me out on the street because I have too many Pathfinder books, I'm coming to live at your house. It's only fair, what with it being all your fault and all.

Seems fair to me.

Silver Crusade

Let her know that you're a grown adult and can make book purchases at will, as long as they fit into your shared household budget.

If you give into things like this you will be miserable in a few years.

I think the point is that they don't fit into their shared household. I know my shelves are full, as are my girlfriend's; we just wind up stacking new books in our respective offices.

Winter Born,

My wife has no problem with my book habit. I was making a statement for dramatic effect.

Or that.

Hard to know. So many men are controlled. M'glad you're not one of them.

Count me amongst the controlled. My wife wanted to know why I wasn't signed up for the Player Companion subscription - she wanted several of the forthcoming issues. As you can see, that problem has now been fixed.

Oh, there are PF books in all kinds of creative places at my house. In the bathroom magazine rack, the coffee table, the flap in the back seat of the car, the mail pile, the bottom of the tv stand I use as a footrest, in boxes under the bed...oh and on the shelves.

Whoa! Totally missed this until now (busy, busy :P). Yay! Thanks to much for being willing to check these out. I totally am super excited about these, and my partners in crime on this project - Sutter, Patrick, and Sarah - have don't phenomenal work! We just capped Knights of the Inner Sea and are working on Blood of the Night (!!!) and People of the North concurrently and OMG these are just getting hotter as we go on. (Wait until you see the Blood of the Night center spread!) So yeah, awesome stuff and I can't wait to hear what people think once they've got their hands on Varisia: Birthplace of Legends in just a couple more weeks here.

In other words: You want the right side of the bed or the left? :)

In the bathroom magazine rack...

Ha! Funny you mention this. For this line's entire revision my assumption has been that I can trust GMs to take a book to bed with them, so they'll read 10-, 20-, 30-page articles. Players, though, I've got them for as long as they're in the bathroom. That's one of the fundamental reasons why every "article" in the new Player Companions are 2-pages long. It's a little crass, but I think it's probably pretty accurate for a lot of players. :P

WOW.

Just downloaded the pdf for Varisia Player Companions. Very very nice.

... So that map of Varisia in the center of the book what are the chances of that being in the Map Folio for Shattered Star? Cause I want that on my wall.

I would say 100%, but since there's a lot that can happen between now and then, especially considering we're only 136 days away from the change to the Mayan calendar, I'll downgrade that to 99.9999932%.

I hope other folks like it as well... we did a similar map in the Skull & Shackles poster map folio and that product has had a bit of a rough time with the reviews...

My group loves that map too.

Yay!

It's always good to hear when folks like things. Since folks who don't like things are always eager to let us know.

Silver Crusade

Really eager to pick up the Varisia book at GenCon.

My group three. The husband and I love to stare at it and plot our next adventure location.

Check out the product description for Shattered Star Poster Map Folio (and the mock up cover).

In other words: Yeah, I think that's doable. ;)

Tell Teter you want [code] tags implemented on the forums. That'll make sure it all works in the future. :P

Most people just whine too much, that's all. If I weren't on a somewhat tight budget, I'd cheerfully snap up map folios, map packs, and flip-mats for use as decorations and resource material. They're deliciously beautiful.

It appears he did use his words. It's a map made of words (and other characters from the keyboard), after all. ;-)

Oh man, that would be amazing.

Hey, maybe someone should start a Kickstarter campaign for that? :-)
