I've been reading some of the threads about Paizo's business model and "behind the curtain" details.
So, I have a question:
When should I declare that I am cancelling a subscription? By that, I mean, If I already know that I'm not going to want the AP that starts in 6 months or the Campaign Setting products starting next February, how can I inform Paizo to not count my subscription to the print run for those products?
As best I understand, I cancel my subscription after my last product ships - but my understanding is that it is too late to affect the print run for the next month (or two).
Does Paizo just eat this cost?
I'm not interested in cancelling my subscriptions now... But, I want to know how to be a better customer to a company that I am pleased to give money to.
And don't even go down the "you should never cancel" route! This stuff is addicting enough. And the Paizo staff has done a very excellent job of keeping my wallet open...

As far as I can tell, Paizo prints much more issues than there are subscribers with (my guess) majority being intended for normal distribution through web store and other stores as well. Still, subscriptions are very, very important to Paizo as they represent stable and much more predictable source of income.
Thus, canceling your subscription does not causes any significant cost for the Paizo - as they just send one less issue. Canceling would present a problem if larger group of subscribers left at the same time, of course.I'm not interested in cancelling my subscriptions now... I do not have subscription so I don't have any idea how the user interface for subscription appears - aren't there anything that allows enter a specific date next to red do-not-push-button "cancel subscription" or something? And if not then it could be a feature to be added.

I was one of the people whose Dragon subscription turned into a Pathfinder AP subscription a few years ago, and I cancelled right before the first Kingmaker issue came out. As much I liked the stuff, I never had time to run a single AP and I hate blowing money on stuff I'm not using. To answer your question, I emailed the folks at Paizo (I can't remember who was handling subs at that time, Liz maybe?) about two months in advance telling them I only wanted up to the last issue of whatever AP came before Kingmaker. That way, I'd at least have the full AP and not just the beginning of the next one.
I still haven't even run Burnt Offerings.

To cancel your subscription, you should let us know either before or after the intended final volume ships. We can always either cancel a subscription immediately, or after the next volume ships.
Our subscription numbers inform the size of our print runs in broad strokes, so the cancellation of a few subs is not going to be a difficulty as far as that goes.
Thanks,
