Rules Questions

The Fly skill says that you can rise at half speed at a 45 degree angle with no skill check.

Assume a fly speed of 30.

going with a climb of 45 degrees, does that mean in a move action I move 15 ft on the horizontal axis and 15 feet on the vertical axis? Which would actually be a move of 21ish feet.

What if I choose to rise at less that a 45 degree angle? If I climb at a 25 degree angle I might move 30 ft on the horizontal access and 15 feet on the vertical access. For a total move of about 33 ft.

Anyone know how the rules are intended to work? I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to be calculating the tangent of theta during a game :-)

Thanks

bump.

Anyone willing to share how they interpret the rules?

Thanks

You'll be moving 15 ft along a diagonal axis.

Diagonal movement is typically calculated as 5 ft for the first diagonal square, and 10 ft for the second diagonal square. Which should work just as well for 3D movement as it does for 2D movement. So you can move two full diagonal squares (which would be equal to 10 ft horizontal and 10 ft vertical).

Wow! I'd never have gone there, that is significantly worse than I'd anticipated.

Everyone else agree?

Flying brings up what shape height has. Is the vertical dimension also chopped up into 5ft increments? Are medium creatures (op)pressed into 5ft cubes?
