Chirurgeon isn't great. Infused Curative becomes fairly pointless if you have the Infusion Discovery, which most Alchemists seem to take. Anaesthetic is pretty much just a free Skill Focus, and interacts poorly with the Vivisectionist's "Cruel Anatomist." Power Over Death is not as good as it seems, as it takes a full-round action to feed a potion to an unconcious victim. Basically, unless the infusion is in your hand and you are standing next to your friend, you won't get to use the best aspect of breath of life.
Vivisectionist is pretty awesome, though. You are basically a Rogue with buffs. Invisibility and boosting your attacks are great with Sneak Attack. It is extra great with Beastmorph (woo, pounce), but you won't be able to grab that if you are going Chirurgeon.

Well... my thought process was this - If you are on the "front lines" dealing out the hurt with sneak attacks, why not have the free ability to pass out healing extracts ahead of time and save yourself a discovery later on for more "self-buffs". If you need to heal someone you can slap them with the Healing Touch discovery which is pretty nice to have because it doubles the usage you'll get out of your Spontaneous Healing discovery.
As I've seen allot of people post... a good offense is the best defense, so hopefully you are not needing to heal a great deal inside combat.

You can do it, but as said, Chirurgeon isn't that good. In combat healing, even coming from a freakin' cleric, is generally suboptimal. Your much more limited ability to heal makes it all the worse. I'd skip it, but if you like it, go for it.
Beastmorph, Mindchemist, and/or Internal Alchemist (combining w/ Viv. of course) all interest me far more.

Interesting... don't forget the Ragechemist/Vivisectionist combo as well.

It would be in the interest of the good of mankind for EVERYONE to forget the comatose chemist.
Not sure where you are going with this...
Seeing as how you should be able to bump up your
saves to the point that as long as you non-1 on your saves you'll not be going unconscious.
