A Rats of Round Mountain question (no spoilers)

I played part 1 of Rats of Round Mountain the other day. I plan on playing part 2 with the same character before playing any other scenarios with that character. The chronicle sheet quite clearly states that the special reward is only available so long as my next chronicle sheet is part 2. Does that really mean that if I had taken a holiday boon as part of part 1, or if I GMed a different scenario for credit on this character between parts 1 and 2, that I wouldn't be eligible for whatever additional benefit is available for playing them back to back? I understood the point to be that the benefit was for having your character remain in the field between scenarios, and as far as I know GMing or taking a holiday doesn't have any bearing on that.

While I'm not offical campaign ... I would say that your character couldn't have the benefit of any other chronicle betweet part 1 and part 2...

if you have the holiday boon, that means your character would have participated in the holiday, which means it would have had to leave

the GM chronicle .. this one is a grey area, since technically you didn't play it .. that one may need an official response from M or M

Here's the boon in question from part 2...

Spoiler:
"Player characters who possess both this Chronicle sheet and the Chronicle sheet for Pathfinder Society Scenario #3–20: The Rats of Round Mountain, Part I: The Sundered Path may purchase the Cornered Fury boon for 5 Prestige Points. Player characters who earned the Dogged Adventurer boon on the Chronicle sheet directly preceding this Chronicle sheet earn this boon at no cost."

My bolding.

In order to qualify for that section of the part 2 boon, it pretty strongly indicates that you need to have Part 1 then Part 2 with no break in between.

I would actually read it the exact opposite you BunnyGnome, so yeah, might need a higher authority on that.

But my reasoning would be for the holiday boon, I guess IC you are enjoying the holiday and so thus get the boon. But I’m not sure the intention was that your character was partaking in the holiday, but since the holiday is spread out over about 3 weeks, if that was the intention, you could always apply the boon before your chronicle sheet for Rats Part I.

Now whether it is In character or not, GM credit adds experience to your character, and as such, you shouldn’t be able to apply an experience giving chronicle between Parts I and II.

I also believe that whether it is GM credit or not, the character is assumed to have gone on the mission.

The point is that your character is stuck within the tapestry and doesn't get to participate in holiday celebrations.

This. But it's good to note that you can get the holiday boon at your next game if you play on a weekly basis. They have a distribution arc of about a month.

+1 .. that was my interrpretation ..

and yeah Andy, we're seeing it differently lol

Well since you get to use the holiday boon during the scenario you are playing in which you received it, you technically apply it to your character BEFORE you get the chronicle for Rats of Round Mountain Part I (assuming you played Part I during the window the boon is available.)

Right, the problem being is if you played rats 1 before the boon was available...

I guess the way I'm seeing the holiday boon, is that it was something you were a part of -- say it's like Marde Gras... now if you've played part 1 and elected to stay in the tapestry, you don't get to attend Marde Gras so therefore you weren't there to recieve the boon.

Since the wording, is that the rats 1 chronicle needs to be directly preceeding the rats 2 chronicle, the holiday boon would negegate the "played in sequence".

I think we'll certainly have to wait for the official word on this.

To be safe, I'd say err on the side of the exact wording of the part II boon.

You can't have ANY chronicles in between.

RAW, it seems like you should assign neither the GM Chronicle nor the holiday Chronicle between them if you want the special boon.

The holiday Chronicle seems arguable to me, frankly, but the GM Chronicle doesn't.

I can't find it at this moment, But I seem to remember it being stated, that it was fine to get special boons like this in between.

Still looking for the post.

IMO: the holiday boon is being received at the same time as the Part 1 chronicle... thus, couldn't the holiday chronicle be placed BEFORE part 1? Or if you earn the holiday boon with Part 2, couldn't you place part 2 before the holiday?
