I've a bard NPC whose primary instrument is the violin, and I was hoping to actually have ambience links for my players. I've found a few nice examples, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas for what might work.
This is a homebrew setting, and the country they are currently in is heavily French-influenced with a hodgepodge of many other countries' influences bleeding in, so an Irish jig or even "Devil Went down to Georgia" wouldn't be out of line for the flavor.

Please tell me that character is evil!!
Also, I doubt you are going to beat the devil went down to Georgia.. Some amazing fiddling there. You might want to check out that fiddler dude whose name slips my mind right now.. Argh. I hate it when that happens. But he's good, although he has a reputation for being bigoted or something. I do remember he was in a geico commercial though...

Oh lord, I did not expect this to exist
Still looking for suggestions, but I had to share.

Biber wrote stuff for violin, it's baroque and hs a variety of moods. Not jigs though.
Make sure you type it correctly though...

Perhaps this girl doing stuff I've seen nowhere else is what you are looking for?
That's Lindsey Stirling, who she already mentioned ;)

Thanks so much for the suggestions! This gives me a very good starting point for things I can use.
I wasn't familiar with Biber and Sarasate, and I believe I should remedy that. I am very okay with looking for things other than jigs; they just happen to be an instant association with fiddlers for me.

Wow, there’s loads of stuff.
From the English tradition, I can recommend Phill Beer of Show of Hands (he plays a mean fiddle amongst other things).

There’s also Dave Swarbrick, who does more solo fiddle stuff, and looks like a gnome or a goblin.

Seth Lakeman has more street cred, and plays a fiercer fiddle (good for inspire courage)

Check out the Levellers for fiddle in a rock band setting.

Eliza Carthy is also great http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcYW6ClxwLU&feature=related

Another person to look into is Ashley MacIsaac. His album Helter's Celtic is pretty good.
