CR of NPCs with classes?

What would the CR on humanoids with classes. Let's say I build a lvl 8 fighter with the Core rule book, is he considered a CR8 monster?

No, he is a CR 7 creature. PCs built using the standard races always have a CR equal to their Character Level -1.

Humanoids with classes are typically HD-1 CR, so a lvl 8 fighter is a CR7. It's HD-2 for NPC classes (warrior, expert, adept, commoner, aristocrat, etc.).

And give your NPCs wealth according to the table on page 454 of the Core Rulebook, not the standard encounter value.
