Magical Tattoo Rescources

Product Discussion

Can anyone recommend additional resources to use with the Inscribe Magical Tattoo feat? The 3 'stock' tattoos from Inner Sea Magic seem a little underwhelming and the book is pretty vague about additional uses for it. Was hoping there were some 3rd party or 3.5 books with reasonable rules for homebrewing magic items that would translate well for this purpose.

Frog God Games

Both "Relics and Rituals" and "Relics and Rituals II — Lost Lore" from Sword and Sorcery have Tattoo Magic in them. Although the books are from 3rd Edition they should provide quite a bit of inspiration. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that "Relics and Rituals" was the first book to layout rules for tattoo magic in 3rd edition.

Be sure to check out Inkantations by 4 Wind Fantasy Gaming for the imho best take on magical tattoo.

Thanks for the info.

Scarab Sages

Inkantations covered it pretty well. I also did some work with magical tattoos in Way of the Yakuza.

I've seen Inkantations' take on it, but if I remember correctly their version is built more around Monk buffing and equipment alternatives. From what I've seen so far the rules in Relics and Rituals fit perfectly with the feel of the character I'm thinking of.

Um, what?

Since the wondrous tattoos in Inkantations function as wondrous magical items, for balance purposes they *must* take an equipment slot. That doesn't mean they're designed as equipment alternatives or specifically for any class. In fact, we have an wizard archetype that uses their tattoos as their spellbook, an Inked Bloodline for sorcerors, and a prestige class with uniquely empowered tattoos.

I'm not sure you're thinking about our book there. No "monk buffing" I remember including in the book. It does include magical tattoos that take up magic slots, as well as numerous feats to improve them (as well as feats that go with non-magical tattoos). If anything, we built them to be more bard and sorcerer compatible.
