Hello all,
This is more of a question for my wife but as the designated rules guy I wanted to find out. For a PFS character she wants to have a small animal to use with her bard, perhaps a monkey or small cat, nothing that would do anything in combat. Is it assumed she can just have something like this as it would have no other value than roleplaying her character.
Secondly are there costs and types of animals available other than the riding animals in the Core Rulebook? Thank you in advance for the help.

Well, to be clear, if it doesn’t exist in the core rules, we can’t make up stuff. She can roleplay that she has a possum hanging in her pony tail if she wants, and many GMs (myself included) would be ok with that, as long as it provided no mechanical benefit. I would probably want to see some sort of skill that reflected her having a pet (like Profession (animal trainer), Animal Handling, or Performance (monkey tricks) or whatever). But also remember, because it doesn’t exist within Pathfinder Society, there will be some GM’s who will allow you to act like you had a monkey, but everyone around you would think you were nuts because nothing was there for you to play with (you know, because pet monkeys don’t have stats and therefore don’t exist in PFS). So just beware, there could be table variance on your fluff in this instance.

Monkeys are on P 21 on the bottom left of the Adventurer's Armory and cost 3GP. There's also a whole bunch of other animals there, the only one disallowed as far as I know is the elephant.
Well there ya go, if it exists in a legal source, then you can purchase it as long as you own that legal source in digital are hard copy (printed digital with your watermark are acceptable) format.

There are tons of miscellaneous animals in the Adventurer's Armory for any onlookers that might consider sprucing up their character with a parrot or a snake. Do note the additional resources of course, and that, sadly, elephants are never legal for play.

Actually, elephants are never legal for purchase.
IIRC, there actually is an elephant AC that is legal for play...

I ran the Society of Western Adventure Gamers and was a big Living Greyhawk nerd before transferring to a completely different state. You still have me on Facebook though you never log on. :P

I was pretty sure it was the L Greyhawk connection... Daniel! (maybe?)
I still have my level 3 tower shielding cleric, which was my inspiration for my first PFS character... which is a level 5 tower shielding cleric! Haha.
