What Mort said.
Though with the last couple of books it's been almost exactly 14 days when the new data was up. I have it from a good source that they are usually ready sooner but again refuse to put it up until the grace period is over.
That said I love having a paper copy because it's so much easier to flip through and actually read.

I thought it was slightly more than a gentleman's agreement with some fairly hard words along the lines of: give us 2 weeks or we'll stop being friendly given from the Paizo side of things.
I am really happy with that state of affairs. 2 weeks means that lots of the questions I have when I read the online versions have already been answered when I search for an answer. I like not having to wait :)

exactly.
I dont mind the two weeks.
hell I would find a month a fair delay.
I just want to know. I checked the book out in my store today. I will either buy it or the PDF from piazo in the next week or two.

Well, it's OGL, so, they could get mad, but not do anything about it, other than enforce the IP, such as having any IP related words removed. On my blog I had anonymous people asking me to post the PDF...I wrote a rebuttal without actually posting their request.
Support the hobby, at least buy the PDF if you're not going to buy the hard copy!!!!

I have a confesion.
I don't buy rulebooks until they've been reprinted. I borrowed a players UM and it was riddled with editing errors. That drives me nuts. I've got the CRB and APG and the Monster books but I haven't picked up UM or UC yet.
Though both of those books are on the coffee table in my office as loaners ATM.
In my defense my subscriptions run about $40 a month and my impulse buys are about half that (maps, cards, modules and old stuff I missed). Then they went and started making minis, which will likely bankrupt me since there is no 12 step program for plasticrack addiction.
I'm as supportive as I can afford. I just prefer to support the fluff side since this is where Paizo excels. If the improve the companion line, and I think they have considerably, I'm going to be in trouble.

My understanding is that there is a "gentleman's agreement" not to put new things on PFSRD until at least a couple of weeks after they are published. For a large book like this, expect it to take even longer for everything to trickle in as the material is formatted.
This is correct, we have a two-week waiting period before we put Paizo's new material up on the d20pfsrd.com site.

I bought the book as soon as our local FLGS had it (actually he didn't have it on the shelf yet). Well worth it in my opinion, though it is fairly useful to have the linked searchable reference online as well. Still, no website is a substitute for owning the book itself imo. Remember to support your hobby folks (not accusing anyone, just reiterating).

d20pfsrd waits 2 weeks after street date before posting the material. This gives us/them 3 weeks to work on it usually.
If history serves it's likely about half done already. They have good scripts to automate the import, and lots of volunteers to clean things up.
From a quick glance, it looks like formatting is done, it just needs to be split up into individual pages (which is really a PITA) and have all the tables updated...
If anyone wants to help out, you just need a google account. There's a post on the compatible products forum asking for volunteers to help digest the book.

Absolutely, 100% false. Paizo has never been anything but wonderful in this regard. They have never threatened, complained, or made a single negative word about us or our delay period (to my knowledge.)

10 bucks isn't much.
Exactly. No offense but its actually starting to bug me seeing so many requests for ARG on the site when the PDF is only freaking $10. I've said it on FB and in other posts but if people want to see stuff on the site faster the best way is to help out.
To be clear: Content from Paizo will not appear on the public side of the site until the product has been on store shelves at least 2 weeks. Without getting more people to help it will likely be significantly longer. If that's not to your liking you have the options of "suck it up","buy the book", "wait for the content to get into the PRD", or "help out."

This is a big book. Could they get it up in 14 days?
While there is a rather obvious joke that could be made there I'll uhh leave it alone... lol
Not only is this a big book its virtually all "crunch" which is what we deal in. If it was 75% flavor text there wouldn't be much for us to do but no, this one's a fatty (in a good way lol)
Yes, we could easily have it all online in less than 14 days. It depends on how useful you want it to be though. Heck we could have it online an hour after purchase but you wouldn't like it that way :)

PDF is for art and the ability to copy text; adventures, mainly.
Hard Copy is for casual reading and personal pleasure.
Website is for gameplay reference and utility searching.
The above statements are true for me. I get a little miffed when people suggest buying a rulebook PDF, because that $10 only makes it harder to buy the hard copy I want more. PDFs suck for reference.
But, the content producers deserve rights. I'm happy to wait.

Agreed.
I have a lot of PDFs, but I rarely ever use them. Reading things on a computer is just hard on my eyes or something... I prefer 'real books' in all things.
That said... I had no intention of buying the ARG. It just didn't sound like something for me... I prefer Core races... I'm not into 'world building' and the old humanoids book was my least favorite of the 2E guides...
Sounded like an easy pass... Then I started to hear that they gave more love to the core races... now i'm ... Intrigued..
