Tremorsense and concealment

Rules Questions

creatures with tremorsense can pinpoint creatures that are within range. can you use stealth to hide from such creatures? When you are invisible is there still a miss chance to hit you.

The main reason I am asking the question is to tell if tremorsense is similar to blindsense or blindsight.

Tremor sense basically tells the creature where it's enemies are standing. It doesn't bypass concealment. So your invisible enemy would still have it's full miss chance even though you do know what space it's standing in. Hiding from such creatures involves not touching the ground. Otherwise a tremor sense user can tell if a rogue is approaching even if the rogue can't be seen. The rogue might still get concealment from any attack depending on circumstances.

Thank you. My Dm and I were wondering these with Blindsense, Blindsight, Scent and Tremmorsense. Tremorsense was the only one I couldn't find any clarification on the web or in the books.

Scarab Sages

Tremorsense works exactly like blindsense with the additional requirement that the detected entity must be in contact with the ground.

Dark Archive

After all these Threads of tremorsense lets look at another perspective, and earth elemental fighting another earth elemental on the plane of earth underground, with RAW and every ones argument with cover and concelment and not being able to attack through the ground, then this fight would be impossible, but this is entirly a plausible situation that could come up so then it has to be possible.

Well, you can also do normal stealth if you have physical cover.

There are boots that allow you to bypass Tremorsense if you move at less than half speed.

Boots of the Soft Step
Source Legacy of Fire Player's Guide 26
Aura faint transmutation; CL 7th
Slot feet; Price 1,000 gp; Weight 2 lbs.

Description

These bronze-riveted boots have thick leather soles that compress and expand as you walk. This reduces the force of your footfalls, making you more difficult to detect with tremorsense. If you are walking at half speed, a creature with tremorsense can only sense you at half the usual distance. If you walk at one-quarter speed or slower, a creature with tremorsense cannot detect you at all.

Construction Requirements

Craft Wondrous Item, feather fall; Cost 500 gp
