I've decided to make an Arcane Duelist (bard archetype). It'd like to enhance my own melee part as well the party ones. I can use the "Core Rulebook" and the "Advanced Player's Guide" only. Can you provide me some advice, or a full build with:
- stats (point buy with 25 points)
- race
- feats
- spells
- starting lvl 3
If possibile I'd like to have a "strenght" based build, I don't like the dex ones with ligh weapons involved :)

1. Arcane Strike
3. Power Attack
5. Furious Focus when you get there
I would not go with a whip though.
Whip: A whip deals no damage to any creature with an armor bonus of +1 or higher or a natural armor bonus of +3 or higher. The whip is treated as a melee weapon with 15-foot reach, though you don't threaten the area into which you can make an attack. In addition, unlike most other weapons with reach, you can use it against foes anywhere within your reach (including adjacent foes).
What do you want to do besides damage?
If you only care about damage there are better classes.

A melee arcane duellist is pretty straightforward.
Just as an idea:
Str (16+2race) 18, Dex 14, Con 12, Wis 10, Int 13, Cha 14
needs headband of wisdom sooner or later
Race Half-Orc, Alternative Racial Trait Sacred Tatoo (+1 on all saves),
Weapon: Falchion (racial)
Feats:
1:WF: Falchion, 3: Toughness, 5: Power Attack, 7: Great Fortitude, 9: Combat Reflexes, 11: Step Up + all the bonus feats
Spells (at level 12) (depend on other casters in the group; you don't need the cure spells if you got a cleric):
Level0: Ghost Sound, Detect Magic, Read Magic, Mending, Mage Hand, Spark
Level1: Grease, Hideous Laughter, Cure light wounds, Comprehend Languages, Saving Finale, Ear-Piercing Scream
Level2: Glitterdust, Cacophonus Call, Cure moderate wounds (2d8+10)/Invisibility, Mirror Image, Silence
Level3: Haste, Good Hope/Heroism, Cure serious wounds (3d8+12), Confusion
Level4: Dimension Door, Freedom of Movement, Neutralize Poison, Dance of a Hundred Cuts

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Feats:
1:WF: Falchion, 3: Toughness, 5: Power Attack, 7: Great Fortitude, 9: Combat Reflexes, 11: Step Up + all the bonus feats
The problem with this is that Weapon Focus requires BAB +1, so a bard can't take it on level 1. On this case I would switch Toughness and Weapon Focus around.
