I'm starting a new campaign (Carrion Crown) and a player wants to create Undead Scourge. What confuses me is this line about Smite Evil class ability from the Scourges' descripiton in d20pfsrd.com:
Smite Evil (Su)
This functions as the paladin ability of the same name, but the undead scourge does not deal 2 points of damage per level on the first successful attack against evil dragons and evil outsiders. She does deal 2 points of damage per level on all smite attacks made against evil undead creatures.
Does this really mean that the Scourge is weaker than the basic paladin, because he can't use his Smite Evil against outsiders and dragons? Or am I missing something vital here?
When smiting anything other than undead, the undead scourge gets 1 point/Level extra on a smite, 2 per level on undead. Normally a regular paladin gets 2/level on their first hit vs evil dragons and evil outsiders.
So 2/level for undead, 1/level for everything else.

Ok, so a regular paladin: +2 damage/level on their first hit vs evil dragons, evil outsiders and undead. And +1 damage/level on everything else.
And an undead scourge: +2 damage/level on their first hit vs undead. And +1 damage/level on everything else.
So the scourge really is weaker? Why? Are all his abilities little downgraded compared to the regular paladin?

Well I looked, and it would seem Smite Evil is a bit weaker.
However, his level 11 ability can destroy the undead (they must make a will save or be destroyed.)
