Advice for an Online Game

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Me and my buddies are going to start an online game, so we can continue our game from the 90s lol. Anyways i was wondering what the best system for online tabletop etc etc.. Ive read some of the campaigns off this website and was wondering what they use? Ive also heard alot talk about this Herolab, whats it all about? Any help would be much appriciated.

Thanks

The best free online tabletop in my opinion is MapTool, found here.
Some of the ones you have to pay for might be better, but I'm cheap.

I don't know what anyone around here uses though. A lot of campaigns I've seen while looking for online games on other sites are just play-by-post on forums, which isn't what I'm after.

I think HeroLab is some sort of character builder program, but I've never looked into it.

I and my friends use Ttoprpg, also free.

I second the suggestion for MapTools, especially if you want free and a variable level of complexity (meaning it can be as simple or complex as you want, depending on how much you want to work and fiddle with it).

HeroLab is indeed a character builder program.

I third on MapTools

We use Google Hangouts for the video/chat portion

For character sheets, we use Google Docs and simply share the doc between player and DM so both can have quick access to record-keeping. That helps me, the DM, A LOT as I can always reference/update a character at any time and the player can see it immediately as well.
