I'm going to be playing Rise of the Runelords soon, and got the okay from my DM to use the RAW "Greatweapon Spell Combat" feat from Advanced Feats: Might of the Magus in order to play a Magus who uses either the Kusarigami or the Double Chained Kama (most likely the latter). The character has to be a Drow in order to adhere to my dm's request.
"Greatweapon Spell Combat (Combat)
You can use spell combat with a two-handed weapon.
Prerequisite: Str 15, Spell Combat
Benefit: You may use Spell Combat while wielding a
two-handed weapon but suffer an additional -1 penalty on
all attack rolls for a total of -3.
Special: A bladebound magus with this feat may select
a two-handed slashing weapon for their black blade."
I need some advice on making this a fun yet effective build, and your thoughts on how spell combat would work given the nature of the weapon and the feat. Do you think it would even work? Any ideas on Builds?

At which level will you be starting?
For both weapons you named you'll need EWP, which you can't get at first level as a magus.
So I guess at first level you'll take your greatweapon spell comabt and at third level ewp kusarigama or double chained kama.
So untill 5th level, when you get two feats (one normal + bonus feat) you don't have many choices.
At 5th I'd take weapon focus for your EWP as one of your feats, to offset your low BAB and your to hit penalty.
You could ask your GM if drow (who are elves after all) gain the elf weapon familiarity and thus are able to use elven curved blade as martial weapon. So you had a nice twohanded weapon (nice as high threat range, which strong for a magus) from level 1.

Go for the double chained kama and you'll either have to play a half-elf (half-drow?) or a kensai magus to be able to use it at 1st level without a GM handout.
I've played a magus for a few levels and they are hella fun. I'm bringing another one into a Jade Regent campaign (bladebound, possibly kensai) I'm playing in who uses Greatweapon Spell Combat and a nodachi, so I'll find out how effective it is in about a week.

I'll be starting at level 1. Would the Kensai archetype be more effective here? The free exotic weapon proficiency seems like it would really help. Diminished spellcasting sucks, but the trade off has the chance for sick reach criticals.

I was thinking about kensai, since magus feats are fairly limited.
