Bonuses on Black Tentacles

Rules Questions

Dark Archive

I was perusing the Black Tentacles spell, and I noticed this line:

SRD wrote:
The black tentacles spell receives a +5 bonus on grapple checks made against opponents it is already grappling, but cannot move foes or pin foes.

All well and good, but when I was reading the description of the grappled condition I saw this:

SRD wrote:
If your target does not break the grapple, you get a +5 circumstance bonus on grapple checks made against the same target in subsequent rounds.

The fact that one is an untyped bonus and the other a circumstance bonus leads me to the belief that these are in fact separate bonuses (bonii?) and that they stack with one another. Am I incorrect in this assumption? Or is it that a spell doesn't benefit from the circumstance bonus in the grappling description, since it isn't a person? Any insight into this would be most helpful.

I believe its just a restating of the standard bonus for already being in a grapple hence you just get +5 (it just clarifies that black tentacles does actually count as a grappler and thus gets the standard bonus for being in a grapple)

That makes sense, and is probably how I'll run it. +10 would just be dumb.
