Racing to Ruin to easy

Serpent's Skull

Hi, we´re playing right now "Racing to the Ruin" and it feels very easy to me. All are level 5 and the damageoutput of the monk and knight together already is about 60 if it wents well. Not included the other players.

We just left the encouter with the Hippopotamus. Are there any more challanging encounters coming up? Just don´t spoil something. Thanks

Racing to Ruin is designed to be an endurance match. Nothing in it is supposed to be very difficult, but there's just supposed to be a lot of it, and you can't rest and resupply if you want to get there ahead of the other factions.

I don't know how your GM is running it, but there's supposed to be the potential for four random encounters per day, in addition to the set-piece encounters. That's where the attrition-burn comes in.

When I ran it I used a lot of REs and by the end of book 2 my players were "Thank god thats over". There are some pretty sweet encounters in there so be on your guard.

Scarab Sages

There were two potential TPK encounters for my group.

Spoiler:
The Shadow Demon - very tough with its DR and other abilities.

Spoiler:
The Spirit Dancers - the succubus, with all her at-will powers and also massive DR. She could teleport at-will any distance and get out of any situation easily. Plus her suggestion. Our DM had to nerf her really badly (teleport 20 feet) for us to even get a chance. We had no powerful ranged attacks.

I have several random encounters that might be TPKs if not handled properly. I think this will be a definite battle of attrition, and am happy my players will probably be close to level 5 by the time the second adventure starts.

Only the Shadow Demon proved a challenge to my players, they sorted out all the rest of the enemies with real ease.
