Help determining value of magical item

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hi, my gm likes to make up his own magical items, and I'm having trouble determining the value of a specific item. It is a ring that adds 2HD to all summoned creatures and turns them into Aberrations. I can't ask him because he is delusional as to what things cost, and typically rewards us about 10% of what pathfinder recommends. If I asked him he would tell me 100 gp.

What do you mean they turn into aberrations? Say I summoned a bear. Does he just change his creature type but is otherwise still pretty much a bear? Or does he cthulhu out and grow tentacles and crap like that?

he's still pretty much a bear, just a weird mutated bear.

I am inclined to treat it as a metamagic effect and use a greater rod of metamagic with a +1 bonus as a basis, about 24,500 gold.

Now this can be used only 3 times per day since your item is unlimited use I'd assume 5 charges per day as per the item creation guidelines, so divide by 3 and multiply by 5.

roughly 40,000 gold for this item by my estimate.

haha, thanks. he's gonna throw a fit.
