Spellslinger explosion radius

Rules Questions

When a spellslinger's broken gun explodes from a misfire or overload, what is the radius of the blast? I don't actually see a number anywhere in Ultimate Combat that states the blast radius, just the line "Any creature within the blast other than the spellslinger can make a Reflex saving throw to halve the damage."

Has this been answered anywhere? On the messageboards perhaps?

IMO it would be the same as the DC of the spell that caused it to backfire.

Actually, never mind. I just found misfire radiuses listed in the firearms list in ultimate combat. Seems that it varies by gun, most being 5ft, blunderbusses and culverins being 10 ft.

Is a spellslinger even proficient with firearms?

Silver Crusade

Seems so

One of my favorite archtype thematically, but I just don't like how they did it mechanically.

Yup, they're the "Wizard with a gun" archetype.

I'm actually quite pleased with spellslinger, if only for the fact that they can actually make dual-wielding pistols viable at low levels (thanks to the fact that they can cast spells between loading their guns). They're actually better at it than normal gunslingers.
