Is there an up-to-date web resource that collects the crunch from the various paperback Pathfinder products?

Dark Archive

I know about archivesofnethys.com, but it seems like that site hasn't been updated since November or so, and it seems like the owner of that site decided to dilute its purpose by adding in all the hardback content too, which just isn't necessary since it's available so many other places, and arguably isn't even really desirable since it clutters the resource quite a bit.

Has anyone else stepped up to bat since Archives of Nethys stopped updating? Amongst other things, there's an item a friend recently saw in a newish paperback book that was something to the tune of Shackles of Truthfulness, and neither of us can find it now. It was an item similar to Manacles of Cooperation but more focused on forcing the wearer to tell the truth. And I'm also on the hunt for an item or feat that will give my 9th-level witch access to greater invisibility.

If it's open source, it's probably on D20 PFSRD. It's a great site and I use it daily!

Yeah, I know that site. It bothers me how much of the material on that site is poorly tested third party material, or otherwise custom content, again because it dilutes the real substance, but I definitely use it. I can't find these shackles of truthfulness (not necessarily their real name) anywhere on there either, though.

You realize that virtually ALL of the Paizo-created content is not playtested at all right? Well, other than the occasional thing like the classes in the APG or snippets of rules here and there but the vast majority is not playtested at all, or at least not that I'm aware of. At the pace they keep kicking out new books there's just about no way that stuff could be playtested.

I guess I just get irritated when people by default assume that if Publisher = Paizo = AWESOME PRODUCT whereas if Publisher <> Paizo = CRAP PRODUCT.

Now is there some content that is probably lower quality than others? For sure, but I'd be willing to bet a significant number of people on these boards can point you towards some Paizo created content that is in the same category.

You're right. Not all third party content is crap. I didn't mean to imply that it all is. It's not actually what I even said. I own a variety of third party books that I enjoy. I've also read more than a fair share of really, really terrible third party products. All I said is that a significant amount of the material on d20pfsrd.com is of the latter category, crappy third party material. And I don't want to have to screen through all that for material, especially when I'm playing something like Pathfinder Society. I agree that not all Paizo material is fantastic either, but they certainly have a stronger than average record.

Did you check the Paizo-only Wondrous Item page?

Almost all 3rd party material is listed on separate pages from the Paizo material. In most areas of the site, you have to specifically go looking for the 3rd party material, as the default pages will be for Paizo material.

I'd suggest taking another look at the site or giving some examples, as what I can see of the site does not match with what you are saying.

The site has actually received quite a few updates, but they are only visible on the test version of the new site, shown here. Additionally, I haven't been updating the front page as much with my updates. I've added almost the entire core book in now, just magic items left.

I wanted to switch the site over to a more easy to search/update format using C#/ASP.NET/SQL, which meant re-entering all the information I already have. Fortunately, that process is nearing the finish line.

Yes, I did want to add in all the core content, primarily because I was getting a lot of requests for it. As a plus though, thanks to the format I now use, it will be very easy to add in a checkbox on most pages to show core content or not show it, depending on user preference. I've already played around with advanced search a bit in Spells, and plan on adding something like that to every page (spells advanced search).

The main thing halting my progress now is my current job, which is time consuming and a bit draining. Unfortunately, it's one of those necessary things to keep rent and other bills paid. :)

As a side note, I also recently began developing a tool to help with some entries, something which will let me update things 100x faster. Everything since now has been manually entered into SQL, but a little advice from a DBA friend at work has led me to write a tool in C# to parse through monster entries, spells, etc. to directly import them into the database. Will save me hours of work once it's done. :)
