On page 24 it states the half-elf gets their choice of +1/1 skill point in their FAVORED CLASS. What is considered a favored class? What is not a favored class? Is the +1 skill point or hit point on top of your normal HD/skill points (Im assuming it is). It seems to me it's really choosing any of the classes in Chapter 3 of the Core Rulebook.

Favored Class
Each character begins play with a single favored class of his choosing—typically, this is the same class as the one he chooses at 1st level. Whenever a character gains a level in his favored class, he receives either + 1 hit point or + 1 skill rank. The choice of favored class cannot be changed once the character is created, and the choice of gaining a hit point or a skill rank each time a character gains a level (including his first level) cannot be changed once made for a particular level. Prestige classes (see Prestige Classes) can never be a favored class.
You pick which class is your favored class. Half-elves get to choose two favored classes instead of only one.

Do they have to choose two at first level? I would think not as I seen many players only play one class.
If they choose only one class do they still get their =1 HP/skill?

OH, on page 31 under Classes and then "Favored Class" it sounds like to me EVERYONE gets to choose a extra HP/or class skill? So, if this is the case then what's the deal with the half-elf BONUS of +1 HP/class skill?
Reads," Whenever a character gains a level in his favored class, he receives a +1 hit point or a +1 skill rank."
What IS a favored class? I think a favored class is simply the class you choose at first level. Every player chooses a class (favored class?) at first level, so this would mean there's no favored class per se due to everyone is choosing a class at first level anyway?

Everyone has one favored class. Whenever you gain a level in your favored class, you can choose to get +1 hp, or +1 skill point. Thats the same for everyone. Half-elves are special - they have 2 favored classes. If they gain a level in either favored class, they get the bonus hp or skill rank.

A favored class does not have to be the class you took at 1st level. You can choose any base class as your favored class. A character can take wizard as a favored class, then never gain a level in wizard in his entire life.
