Animal domain and boon compainion

Rules Questions

Lantern Lodge

I'm just checking if this is correct, as I've found nothing in the faq about it.

assume a 4th level cleric (no other classes) with animal domain:

animal domain:

At 4th level, you gain the service of an animal companion. Your effective druid level for this animal companion is equal to your cleric level – 3.

Picks up this feat:

boon compainion:
The abilities of your animal companion or familiar are calculated as though your class were four levels higher, to a maximum bonus equal to your character level*

would his animal companion jump to his character level? or would this feat have no effect?

Isn't that feat designed for rangers? If it is, I'd think so. Although it would be good for a multi-class druid...hmmmmmmmmmmm. who knows.

It would jump.

Pretty reasonable.

Boon Companion

Your bond with your animal companion or familiar is unusually close.

Prerequisites: Animal companion or familiar class ability.

Benefit: The abilities of your animal companion or familiar are calculated as though your class were four levels higher, to a maximum bonus equal to your character level*. If you have more than one animal companion or familiar, choose one to receive this benefit. If you lose or dismiss an animal companion or familiar, you may apply this feat to the replacement creature.

Special: You may select this feat more than once. The effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a different animal companion or familiar.

You gain an animal companion with that domain, and thats all you need to get the feat. No reason it shouldn't work.

^^ As above ^^ :)

it would apply to anything called an "Animal Companion" or "Familiar" there have been topics in the past stating that it won't work for Summoners...so take that for what you will.

Should work. That's the point of the feat, after all. For extra fun, you can be a druid with animal domain (or, better still, Fur or Feather subdomains), get the extra spells and then Boon your companion right back to level. :)

well, the argument against the Summoner was simply because the Eidolon is a Major power of the class...the primary aspect of the class & giving someone the ability to take 4 levels of fighter & still have a fully powered Eidolon gives them a Major leg up with an already powerful critter.

Grand Lodge

Summoners already have it good.
